Old lure question - Midgerena (probably spelling it wrong)

Featured Replies

hello all.  This is my first post, I've tried searching for an answer but had no luck.

Many years ago when I was younger my dad gave me a bass lure called (I *think* I'm spelling this right) a Midgerina (or midgerena, or midgurena).  I think it was a Rapala or Rebel lure.

I was shaped somewhat like a pop-r, it wasn't a pure top-water lure, it floated and when you cranked it went a couple feet below the surface.  It had a sort of side-to-side actions, two treble hooks, and it was a really good largemouth lure here in Missouri.

Does anyone know anything about these, if they are still made? by whom?  or if there is a style that is similar?  Do you know the proper spelling?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I believe what you are referring to is the Midge-Oreno. It is the smaller version of the Bass-Oreno line of baits made by South Bend lure Co. They went out of business in, or were bought out in 1965. It was a popular lure. Many were made and are still around. You may find one on Ebay. Red head and white body was a popular color. I hope this helps.
