Ohio Fishing

Featured Replies

just seeing how every one is doing since the weather bin so messed up this summer so fare. do you prefer night or day fishing with the heat? what lakes have you just had no luck no matter how many times you bin

Unfortunately due to travel baseball I have not had much time. However, I have done fairly well the few times out at my local home lake. I have been out to Ceasars once and boated 1 dink in 2 hours of fishing.

Heading to Indiana this weekend to fish Patoka lake. I will definately post results. We used to fish this lake 10 years ago and it wasn't uncommon for 75 fish days. However, I have fished two year end NBAA tournaments there in the last few years and the lake seems to have taken a downward spiral in terms of the largemouth population since the introduction of the stripers.

heading up to rush run fri my buddys dad took us their fri just though it was a little lake. it is only aloud electric motor on it but it look really good from the shore i was on. you ever heard of it or fished it. we where on the south shore i guess right side of the ramp bACK in a cove and got a hold of two nice one not the biggest i ever had but with in an half hour i couldnt complain for not really knowing the lake. and got a hold of two shovle heads :( on a crank bait only stayed about 2 or three hours then the storm came in. would of stayed if it was just rain but it was some wicked lighting. missed out on caesar creek bc i had my blazer worked on they keeped it all weekend.. will have to try n hit it this weekend. you do any good?

Just got back from Patoka. Fishing was tough. Water temps in the 90-93 range. My wife boated a HAWG! 6.7lbs on a senko. Son caught a fish in the mid 3lb range. other than that all fish were small in the 1-12in range. We only boated about four fish a day and those were the only good fish.

Patoka seems to have changed dramatically since I fished it ten years ago. It is not the bass lake it once was. IMO, this is due to the introduction of the striper. Bass are no longer the apex predator in the lake and the fishery has suffered. Don't get me wrong, there are good fish but not as much quantity of quality fish. There seems to be Large fish and small fish but not as many 14-17 inch fish. Patoka still has a slot limit in place so these size differences don't make much sense.
