Outboard Repair Richmond Va Area

Featured Replies

Hopefully Im not in the wrong by posting this here. I'll just chalk it up to being a noob on the board. ;)

But does anyone know of a good shop or individual around Richmond that works on Johnson outboards ? I have a older 9.5 that needs some maintenance done on it. I was told I need to have the impeller changed because mainly of age. I have not used the motor in quite a few years. Probably needs the fuel system cleaned as well. Any help is appreciated.

You might want to check out Anthony Vining in Mineral, Va. (Near Lake Anna). He specializes in older

OMC, Mercury and Yamaha outboards. You may contact him at: 540-894-4898.

He has been handling all my maintenance, both boat and motor for the past 15 years and I have nothing but

high praise for his service.

Call John Coleman by Watkins Landing.

John repairs motors and he may be able to fix your Johnson or help you find someone that can.

804.794.2966.

Dockside in Hanover Industrial Park may be able to fix Johnson's. 804.752-2054.

And Jerry Cooper at Cooper's Marine about a mile down the road from Bass Pro Shops may be able to help you, 804.752.5835.

Good luck.

The Bass Boating site may have been a better place to post your query but you did great placing it in a place the local Richmond guys frequent on the Forum.

Let us know what you did. :)

Rugged Marine off Route 10 heading to Dutch Gap may work on Johnson's.

Behind the Racetrack gas station after the first light onto Old Stage and it is about 100 feet on your left.

Look them up and give them a call.

Ed's Marine in Ashland is supposed to work on Johnson's too. Route 1 just south of Ashland. :)

Thanks for the info.

Ive taken my boats to most places around richmond, I only take my outboards to Adams and Durvin. They are fair, know their stuff and best of all.... they leave all their boats indoors! They are in the East end.

Ive had bad experiences with COOPERS MARINE, so stray from there.... I had my 150 VMAX winterized and maintained by them for two years straight. I took it out in the spring to fish for shad.... motor died. Took it to them, they said i blew a rod, motor was f ed. they said it was 6500 to get a new powerhead. I asked them why this happened, they said because i hadnt winterized it properly..... I said yall have done it the last two years... and they said there was nothing they could do about it because it wasnt under warranty...... Sorry.

At EDS MARINE, their service is very poor, they are azzez most of the time. They charge a arm and a leg. They are a good place to get the best price on a boat, especially a sea hunt.

Also stray from MARINESERVE on mechanicsville trpk. That guy with Reem you a new one. Charges are crazy..... its funny I always pass by there any theres boats that have been there for months. Either hes going to charge to much.... or people cant afford to pick them up. He tried to charge me over 1k, to do a basic tune up and clean the carbs on a 90 hp force by mercury outboard motor..... I got him down a little less than than because i told him he was crazy and other places said theyd do what he did for about half that. He charges per hour from the book, not how much time he actually spends like a honest shop. (so if each carb to be cleaned by the book is 1-1.5 hour, he charges that for each one he does...
