Boat Wont Idle And Oil To Gas Ratio Help!?

Featured Replies

I have a 1989 150 Evinrude and i had motor work done to it this past winter. New stator, flywheel and a good carburator cleaning so i thought that it would run fine this year. I have asked some people about why it wont keep running when idling. I have tried sta-bil and I run startron on every fill up. When i put the muffs on to start it at home it will idle all day perfectly but as soon as i get it to the lake it wont idle. It gets pretty flustrating! The motors a two stroke as well. Anything suggestions?

Thanks, Allen.

Have you thought of taking the boat to a service center for a checkup?

It could be a number of things including your fuel line.

The guys on the Forum will give you their input but I suggest having a professional service tech take a look at the engine and correct the problems.

I took my boat in two weeks ago for a check up as I was having a few minor problems and we found the fuel line was eaten up due to the ethonol although I have been using the marine StaBil for years.

Good luck and let us know what you find out as it will help all of us in the future. :)

If you haven't replaced your fuel lines/bulb/fuel filter in a couple of years, that would be a prime culprit. When was the last time the fuel pump was rebuilt? The diaphragms wear out. Low fuel pressure could cause a slow idle.

I would start with these and see if that helps.
