I can't seem to buy a bite with my 7 inch thumper worms?

How are you guys fishing them? I have been texas rigging with a small 1/8 or 3/16 sinker unpegged and employing a "lift and drop" technique???

Any suggestions?

I just started using them last weekend. I am using a 10" cut down to 6-8 inches. I am riggin in on a keel weighted hook and flippin and pitchin it to timber. Like I said only started with it last weekend, so not alot of luck yet, but I have confidence.

I've had good luck with them in mid-summer green lakes, fished on heavy Texas rigs, 3/8 oz and up. With the heavier weights and faster fall, the worms put off great vibration. I haven't had much luck fishing them on light T-rigs, on those I prefer straight or ribbon tail worms. These paddle types of worms seem to work best in low light or at night, or in dirty water.

After the paddle tail worms get too ripped up for Texas rigging, they can be trimmed down to 4-5" to make an excellent swim jigs trailers or shaky worms.

I have great luck with them rigged on a 1/4oz standup jig head. I often cut them at the score line for a cut-tail presentation too.

I like them a lot. But these things are so subjective. Try them weightless for a hour or two and slither them along the bottom with 10-15 second pauses. Twitch a bit side to side and up and down. If your on the fish they'll buy as long as you're selling right. Make sure that tail has the time to wiggle.

That worm is probably my favorite, and gets used a ton. I use them Tx rigged (light or heavy, depending on the fall I need), Carolina rigged, cut down and on a drop shot, cut in half and used on a swim jig, weightless, keel-weighted, and especially on a shakey head. I save the big 10" version for muddy water, or when I fish at night or before daylight.
