rage shad

Featured Replies

Let me start by saying that I love this bait. Has to be my number 1 producing bait thus far. However, I think they are even less durable than a senko ( yes I said the s word). There are times they don't even last one fish. I find that the action is horrible when the tail rips even slightly. Which happens all the time unfortunately. I go through d**n near three packs a day. Anyone else having the same problem??? Anything you do to prevent/prolong the life of the bait??? Thanks.

I have found no real way of prolonging the life really! It all depends on how hard the fish hit it and how much fight they got in them. Most of the time they crush this thing though! I know they are not cheap but we will jut have to deal with it i guess.

I hate complaining about a great bait. I think if they reinforced the tail more it would greatly improve the durability. just my thoughts.

so i have to buy another product to get the first to work as it should??? have you tried it? Do i get a rebate from rage tail???

lol. I have no idea if it works. People use it for prolonging the life of soft swimbaits. I figure it would work on rage tail stuff but you probably won't get any rebates...It sucks, but it might be the best alternative to buying every pack you see.

I actually haven't had those problems with the Rage Shad.  Granted they don't ever seem to last long enough, but neither do Horny Toads when the fish are slammin' them.  Comparatively though I've found the shads to last just as well as any toad I've used.  If the fish are really killing them I just figure I'm going to go through a pack or two of any soft plastic I'm using on the thick stuff.

As for the Mend-it glue, I don't think it will solve your problem with the tail ripping.  I have a bottle and it really does work great and saves me tons of money on flukes and senkos.  BUT, while it works perfectly for fixing a torn head or skin-hooking area of baits, the area fixed is still a little less durable than the remaining plastic. The Rage Shad has so much movement and action in the tail that I think its own movement would re-tear the spot you fixed, although I haven't tried this myself.

I go threw allot of Rage products from Shad's to Craws. What I've found that works great is a soldering iron. I take two one legged craws and make a complete craw. I fix ripped heads on my shads and frogs. It can even be used to mend the holes a hook makes when you set the hook on a Rage Shad.
