Man idk what it is but something bout the food this drill is amazing! Usually chow blows but so far it been good even the eggs seem like real eggs not some yellow liquid poured out of a bag. I can't wait for chow tomorrow today was fried chicken collard greens some chinese chicken thing and baked beans it was the best meal iv ever had.

You guys who are in or were in how was the food experiance for you? Usually its crap for me but so far this trip to drum is great.

The mess hall I ate at at Ft. Hood was really good, The mess Sgt there seemed to really take pride in his place. It was always nice and clean and the food was great. He also won every time all the mess halls on post did their little contests. I actually went to his home one year for Thanksgiving cuz I had no where else to go. I never had collard greens until then and they rocked!! Along with everything else he made.

Its the same mess sgt as always here sense were guard its only once a month but this month he's on point its been pretty darn good

Wait until you get to Afganistan. It may take you a few weeks to get used to eating the foil-packed, dehydrated, condensed, evaporated, canned, compressed, pressurized collection of raw materials for a turd-making machine that the U.S. Army labels as food.

A lot of the guys say last time the food was good dependant on where they were.

Todays bfast was gross I spoke to soon jynxing it the eggs looked like yellow brownies and a piece of faty steak that was it I got back to the barracks and busted out the veggie burger MRE one of the best MREs in my opinion. I hope dinner is better tonight after qualifying in the rain today.

Yuck! I hate the veggie burger, but it's definately better than those yellow brownie-looking scrambled eggs! You're right about the quality of the food being dependant upon your location. In Iraq, I had the pleasure of spending some time on a huge FOB with an awesome chow hall, but I also spent time on tiny outposts eating nothing but T-rats and MREs. If your tour is anything like mine have been, you'll move around some and get to experience both extremes.

Veggie omlet is the worst MRE by far but I heard they got rid of them I haven't seen it in about a year. Buffalo chicken is a good one along with beef stew. A lot of the guys allways talk about pheonix over seas had the best food or orion.

During basic training (1966), we were fed C-Rations of undetermined age. However, the 4-pack of cigarettes included within were Lucky Strikes in the green wrapper that were so dry that they almost exploded when you lit one :D . The Ham/lima beans were pretty good as was the "beans & Weinies". The scrambled eggs were indescribeably bad though...
