Fishing In The Kissimmee Area Oct 10-11

Recommended Posts

I am coming up to Kissimmee October 10-11 and will fish Toho. I have always wanted to fish Toho but never got around to it. If anybody has some suggestions as to the best boat ramp to use and some local knowledge of the better frogging areas, I would appreciate it. I'am really looking forward to this trip! Maybe one of you locals might want to join me for a day.

Lake Front Park on the north end is your best ramp. Toho is not normally a froggin lake though. There is the occasional day where the bite is on but those are rare. Goblets cove is going to be your best bet. I will get you some local info when we get closer to your trip.

I have just returned from Lake Toho. A 2 day fishing trip turned into 4 days on the water. Caught around 100 fish, several 5's and a 7. Most were caught on a Gambler Big Easy on grass. After fishing 3 days hard with artificials I tried my hand at shiner fishing on day 4. Ran out of shiners and absolutely crushed them on the Big Easy. 98% of my fish came within a 150ft piece of water. Did catch the 7 at the mouth of Shingle Creek (thanks Lee). The water is 4-8 inches over all the docks. I'll give a complete report when i get the film edited.

Sounds like you had a great time there at Toho. Nice picture and looking forward to seeing your video.I am a huge fan of the Big Easy too. They have became my favorite plastic after being a worm fisherman for years.I just love the kissimmee/Toho area too.

I caught my PB(12.7) on the east side of lake Hach along some shell beds. My dad used to be good friends with the owners of camp mack years ago. A great place to stay and great fishing.

Cptn. Shane, What color big EZ did you find to be most effective? Thanks.

While I was up at Toho..I used the "Ghost Shad" and "Lane Toad" colors. Both had plenty of metallic flake which I believe the bass were picking up on. Both did equally well. I was rigging weightless with a 6/0 Owner EWG Cutting Point hook. I think the weighted screw in hooks work well but I find that on most hits the screw would tear out the nose of the bait. By the end of day 4 I was reeling it across the grass like a buzz bait and when it came to a hole I would pause it and let it dive down. Hits were almost guaranted.
