Looking for opinions on this rod. I'll be using it for casting jigs around 1/2 oz, in 20-25 FOW, with braid + leader.

Powell Max Football Jig Rod 7'5" Med Hvy 753CEF, Extra Fast, 3/8-1oz.

thanks for any inputs

Anyone?

I know there's a lot of Powell fans here.

I'm selling all my Powells and had one. It's a good rod but no better than any other rod they sell.

If it's as good as the two my other Maxes, it'll be great.

Coupla questions if you don't mind: What do you think of the lure weight rating; is it accurate? What other rods have you used for similar techniques, and what is your opinion of the Powell considering the other rods?

It'd be great if you can find time to answer them. Thanks.

The lure weight rating is probably accurate however a 3/4 oz is the heaviest I throw in a football jig. The rod is tip heavy like the other Powells over 7' I found. The 7'3"s not too bad, but my 765 FLIP was just unbalanced as well as the football jig rod. The Powells were great mid to low level rods and if I don't sell the others ill just keep and use them. Great craftsmanship, pretty sensitivity, and decent weight. Honestly I used to fish veritas rods and although the craftsmanship was not so good the sensitivity for me was better than my Powells. I'm switching over to Dobyns champ extremes so that's not a fair comparison.

Thanks a lot. Personally, the tip-heaviness is something I don't really mind a lot in Powells because I love everything else. I use heavier reels than most people like too; that helps a bit with the balance.

Well thanks once again for all the info. Now all that's left is to wait for a sale, lol.
