The New Shimano Compres?

Recommended Posts

Well this is embarrassing...

I just realized how long its been since I have devoted time to fishing. Sad to say that once school started I have not even touch a fishing rod or read a fishing blog.

And for a man who prides himself on keeping up with new equipment you can imagine my shame when I looked on ***.com and found out shimano had come out with new designs of their fishing rods.

I was just wondering if anyone has used the Compre line of rod?

I have few compres that I am using; it is very light weight and senstivie. I am very satisfied with the rod, and it is a good buy without breaking the bank. But one small complaint is the durability, since I have broken a rod tip after 2 fishing trips but shimano replaced it without any issue). Overall, I am happy but do check out the veritas (same price range).

I am a proud and very happy owner of one, but it is not the latest version.

They are seriously great bang for the buck, in terms of performance, sensitivity, and components.

I have a 2-piece mh model that I've used for light jigs, weightless plastics (wacky and t-rig), jerk baits, small and medium-sized crankbaits, and even drop shotting.

This is my "trunk" rod naturally and with it, large and smallmouth bass, trout, pink salmon, and even coho salmon have fallen victim to it.

If Shimano upped the ante in terms of the graphite used, the newer line is going to be even sweeter.

If the new ones are still just as good as the old rods they are one heck of a value!

I just ordered two from ***. I have 6 of the older style. IMO the best bang for the buck.

I have two. One 6'6" 2 piece spinning m/f and a 6'8 casting worm/jig m/f that replaced my old style 6' m\f. While I dont have much time on the water with them I can say that they are at least as great as the old style. The new casting reel seat is very comfortable and i love the new look. They both are light in weight, very sensitive and imo fish close to what they're rated at.

I also have a new model 6'6" l/f spinning rod that replaced an older model as well. Inhavnt fished with it and it still has tags on it but it feels very similar to the old one.
