Big G 11/22

Featured Replies

First trip to Guntersville and definitely won't be my last. Fished from about 8:30 until 4:30 in the rain and thunderstorms around the goose pond colony area. It was an unbelievably incredible trip! We caught around 40 fish total with at least 30 keepers between 3-4 lbs 3 right at the 5 lb mark and no more than a handful that we're short. Me and my partner had 20# sacks each, it was my best day ever! The Bama rig is no joke it gets them going, but it will wear you out. I would take a break from throwing it and throw a fluke, it worked well but definitely not as effective as the rig. There we're bass busting shad everywhere you looked, just look for a blow up and toss the A-rig. It was like those fish had never eaten before, just gorging themselves on shad. We've got a few pictures but it was tough with the pouring rain. I can't wait to go back again!

No we never had a doubles or triples. I was a little surprised at that. It's crazy how that thing gets em going, the swimbait was the key though, we threw 4 diff kinds, Berkeley, Storm, Basstrix, and Big Hammers. No fish on the storm or berkely baits. The Big hammer was by far the winner. I was short on hammers so I put the Basstrix on with them. It was probably 3 fish to 1 big hammer to Basstrix bait. Here's a couple pics. It was tough to get any good pics with the weather. It's crazy how fat these fish are, the longest fish was barely 20" and went 5.2. We were throwing back 14" fish that were pushing 2 lbs.
