I need to replace a unit this year and I am thinking about going with a DSI. Any one have experience with this one? Is this new for 2012, and if so are they improved from the previous DSI units?

Yes, the Elite 4 units are new for 2012. Compared to the Elite 5 DSI, the Elite 4 DSI has slightly less power but is a great little unit for the price!

Thanks for the reply Todd. I am not sure if this is what I will do or not. I understand that this unit is a dedicated DSI locater and I don't know if I would be satisfied with that. Although for the price I may try it. I keep hearing a lot of negative remarks about DSI technology, seems like there are more people unhappy with them then there are happy campers. Wish I could spend a day just playing with one, maybe I will go to Cabela's and look it over.

I have the Elite 5X DSI on my bow and love it. a lot of times it's no different than a 2D but hard cover ( foundations, trees, etc) images are incredible. at some point in the future I will upgrade to HD with side scan, but for now I'm completely happy.

Thanks that is what I wanted to hear. Maybe there has been a significant improvement in the technology for 2012.
