Are there any good spots around camp Shelby Mississippi I'm here for mobilization and theirs word we are getting some leave and I wanna do some fishing. I'm gonna have to find a store and buy some gear but it's not a big deal. There are to lakes here on post 1 of which there is a pic of bill dance holding a 14lber caught there and boat rentals are 2 dollars a day. But what else is around because I have a feeling that lake will be packed when we get leave.

Try Ashe Lake down by Ashe Nursery south of Brooklyn, MS. I fished there a lot as a kid. Nothing big but was loaded with fish and easily bank fished. Of course this was 15 years ago. Also fished the small pond in front of the high school in Brooklyn.

How far is it from Shelby or hattiesberg word is were getting a 1 day pass but there is a 50mile radius

I hope you get your pass!!!!! I am currently deployed since last August and we went through mob station at Ft Hood and they didn't give us any leave! I tried everything I could to get out and do some fishing in Texas. I was so hoping to get a 4 day and get a buddy to bring my boat down and we could fish some of those infamous Texas waters. Just never happened. Good Luck on your deployment! I am halfway through, that means I'm halfway back to the lake.
