My Used Plastic Baits.

Im sure someone on this site makes their own baits. If you do, I was just wondering where you get your chemicals. I was going to make my own using my used plastics, but then decided against it. I have a collection of them, but not enough to make shipment worth it. Does anyone here buy peoples old plastics to use to melt and mold their own, and if so, how much do you pay? I figure if Im not going to use them, someone will, and I will continue to collect them and sell them off.

While a good thought, I personally wouldn't pay someone for their used up baits. I don't consider plastisol to be expensive enough to even worry about it. I don't even remelt my own baits where I know the formulation of each bait type. I collect my used baits in the back of my jon boat and toss em in the trash at the end of the day. Heavily salted baits remelt very ugly. The salt picks up moisture and when you remelt it. The moisture boils and makes all sorts of nasty bubbles and froth in the plastic. If there is enough moisture it can actually be quite dangerous or at least messy depending on the mode of heating. It is a little easier to remelt non salted baits but still not something i think is worth the hassle. Other pourers might disagree, just my opinion.
