I am completely new to baitcasters, and any help would be appreciated. I purchased a new Skeet Reese (Wright & McGill) Victory baitcast reel, at a pretty good price, on Amazon. I just loaded on the mono and the braid. Then I turned the drag counter clockwise to open up the drag and pull out some line. But now the star drag handle is stuck, and I can not get it to turn independently of the handle. And of course the spool wont turn when I turn the handle. The worm does move though. Did I break it already?

No. Since the drag is backed all the way off there is no pressure which explains why the spool won't spin. As far as the drag being stuck, try holding the handle an turning the star drag also.

Ah ha! Operator error, that and the star drag needed some persuasion.....Thanks Chris!

No problem. Glad I could help! Always remember when you're going to leave the reel for more than a day or so back the drag off. You can also back the weights off if You have the kind you switch off and also the spool tension knob if storing for a long time.
