What Landing Net For The Boat?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a landing net that stows easily in my 18' Triton. I'm thinking something that collapses but it HAS to be hook-free. I'll use it mainly for tournaments. Would like to keep the cost down but will go as high as $60. What do you guys use?

Regards,

Bryan

I've got a Hibernet, where the net stows inside the handle. I think it is a little more than $60, but I don't know, I forgot what I paid for mine. Every net has issues, but no net is more "stowable" than the hibernet.

I use a basic net frame that has nothing fancy but is functional

But I have the rubber basket on it and I really like that feature. It is supposed to be nicer to the fish, it seems to be with how slick it is. Its also nice b/c my crankbaits come outta it without tangling all up! haha

Rubber or coated is the way to go. After getting F18 Rapalas out of the old knotted nets the difference is night and day plus if you want to release the fish it's better for them. I've got a Frabil that was about $60 and the hoop size is 23x26 with the coated netting that is about 1/2" squares. It's a touch big for just bass but it works good for walleyes and will handle pike to about 40" just fine. Pretty good multi-species net. The handle slides into the frame for storage.

I will have to go with Fishes In trees on this one! I did get the Hibernet for Fathers Day two years ago,and I love it! It is easy to use and it stows away so nice and takes up no room. In the store it seems kind of hard to open but it will brake-in and will open with no problems once it is broke-in. Just remember to put the net in the open and let it air dry. Great net!!!!!
