How's the crappie fishing this time of year in the north east I called the local hotline and they said bluegill and perch bite is really hot along with steelhead and brown trout. I ask because my son called me last night asking me to take him crappie fishing while I'm home on leave so I'd like to take him out and put him on some crappie.

Western Mass here and doing quite well. Have had the most action on 1/32 oz. marabou jigs, suspended about 3' below a Thill pencil bobber. Sometimes I double up and hang on two such jigs below the bobber, about a foot apart. This way I can fish two color combinations as well.
