So there is one lake in particular that I fish that always has poor visibility. Pre-spawn and post-spawn aren't too difficult because you can fish lay-downs and do rather well. But during the spawn I struggle. Obviously sight-fishing for these fish is out of the question.

I suppose I could slowly go down what should be a spawning bank methodically picking everything apart but does anyone have any other ideas? Or tips?

Here in central NC one of my favorite lakes has a spot just like that. I have had good luck with a slow reel with a purple or red worm with the two hooks and a spinner in the end with 2 or 3 orange plastic balls about the size of BB's. I am not exactly sure but I believe the style is called weedless. Again, this is just what works for me. The muddier spots tend to get more hits in the worms an sometimes on the brown lizard with neon green speckles. Joe.

8'' salamanders carolina rigged , let em sink and just drag em , i fan out and cast in everydirection once that thing slides through a bed you should get a hit, sometimes they just softly pick it up so look for your line and where its moving
