FINALLY...Got some action on the Rage Craw. Was pretty windy today and fishing was slow. I could have torn the dinks up with a Drop Shot, but decided to throw a Rage Craw instead.

Had it rigged on a 3/0 EWG Eagle Claw Hook and a 3/8 oz bullet sinker. Because of the wind,it was hard to detect bites. Most bites were on the fall, and the fish crushed the bait.A couple of the fish got gut hooked, but survived.I couldn't help it I didn't feel the bite, and the fish was just there.

Hopefully the next time won't be so windy, and ill actually be able to "fish" the bait.

On a T rigged Rage Craw what's a popular, productive retrieve style/method. Does dragging it work well, what about the standard lift method where you go from 9-12 clock in gradual steps?

I usually present a T-Rigged rage craw with a lift and pause method. Dragging works, but I rarely fish that way. Just a lift or hop tends to work for me. As per any T-Rigged lure, you're best chances are on the initial fall next to cover/structure.

Lift and pause. feel any bumps on the bottom or anything that it gets stuck on a little bit then make sure you lightly shake it in place.

This works for me. Also, when fishing in windy conditions, try a heavier weight. It really helps maintain contact with the bait and what it's doing.

There are no magic lures and the fish don't care how much you paid for your gear.

The trouble I was having with the wind was boat position, couldn't get it to sit in one place(drifting) and the big bow I would get in the line. Regardless, the fish just inhaled the bait. Guess they gotta be aggressive when eating live Craws. That's no time to peck at the prey. It's all or nothing.

anchor: the most forgetten piece of bass tackle
Scholars have long known that fishing eventually turns men into philosophers.  Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to buy decent tackle on a philosopher's salary.

That's no time to peck at the prey.

Before drawing that conclusion, I suggest you search Youtube for bass feeding on real craws. I think you'll be surprised at what you see. Smallies especially will rip their claws off, and "play" with them, like a cat does with a mouse.

Everything in moderation.

Try a wind sock to slow you down. I drag with the wind when I can ( if not too windy ). Or go to a bigger weight. As for dragin or hop it ! Let the fish tell you what they want=one day they want it on a drag on another day on the hop. You can't fish it wrong!

I fish with real craws from time to time, the first thing I do is rip the pincers off. I don't know what it is,but i get bites extremely fast when i do this....perhaps it's the fact without it's weapon the fish(predators)find them a much easier target. I've caught countless crayfish with just one claw and seeing many more still swimming around without their claws as well.
The magic lure in your tackle box is the lure you have the most confidence in.
