I just started bass fishing since I moved up here to NH. I've heard a few places in the area (turee pond, turtletown, hoit road marsh, turkey pond) Looking for areas I can fish from shore. It sucks not having a boat but that's what I'm stuck with. Just got my first largemouth of the season yesterday at turtletown but looking for some variety. Any info would be great! Thanks

P.S. Anyone looking for a fishing partner let me know. availible all weeknights and some weekends.

You got a couple descent spots there, and you'll catch a few from shore at those places. If I can make it out on a weekday, I'll pm you, and see if you wanna get out. Good luck, man. See you around.

If your in the Turtletown/Hoit Marsh area you can also hit up Hot Hole Pond in Loudon which is right in between the two. There is some shore fishing around the boat ramp there, even though it gets crowded in the spring time with trout fishermen.

Also on Loudon Road across the street from Everett Arena, you can go behind the big office building and fish the Merrimack from there.

I have caught a few decent largemouth in both of those spots from shore. Good luck!

I fished Hot Hole once and wasn't too impressed. I may try it again. I haven't fished the merrimack and I probably should sometime, the iron bridge is right down the street from my place.

I hate Hot Hole, and just fished the Merrimack Yesterday. It was pretty good, even though the water is like 3' low. Caught about 10 smallies in the 1 3/4-2 lb range.

i and my son have also had some luck off exit 17. go right and follow it yuo will see the water just down the road. . there are several places to access the water on foot and also a boat launch area that has good access for shore fishing , especially if you do not mind walking a bit.

Horseshoe Pond off of 393 has a lot of access for shore fishing. It does get a lot of pressure, but I've pulled some decent fish out of there.

I've heard the pond behind NHTI. Any more specifics on where to go on campus to get to it? Maybe I'll give horseshoe pond a try this weekend too.

are you talking about Hoit Road Marsh? If so where can I walk outside of the main area there off the road?

exit 15 off 93 to exit 1 off 393... go left and follow it all the way around the campus. at the stop sign where the ball fields are you take a right and continue following till you get to the Christa McAuliffe space museum , at the rocket go left and follow till the road ends. On the left behind the hills there is a path you can follow that has good access to fish the NHTI pond. There are many places to fish around the pond so follow it in both directions.

I have not fished Horseshoe pond and am not sure i know where it is.

also there is some access to the Merrimack river behind the ball fields and off the side of the road. The rocks around the bridge allow you to get a lot of shore area but i have only been there once. I actually walked right under the 93 bridge off of the exit 1 / 393 but did not have much time.

exit 17 off 93 follow around the curve and go right. you will go over the river . look to both sides but to the left you will see the old railroad bridges. there is access at the commuter parking lot to get to some water but if you follow down to the rotary and go left , follow past the water works place and take a left if you keep following that road it will end in what looks like an abandoned parking lot, go left after going thru the lot and there is shore fishing and easy boat ramp access. you can also get to the railroad tracks from there and they follow the river. follow the tracks and fish both of these old metal bridges and both of the waters that flow into and out of the river. I have had good luck with smallies and with NUCLEAR SIZED PICKEREL in the inlet areas. I know a lot of people dont like the pickerel but those 25 inch plus ones i dont mind at all. weedless frogs and weedless floating blacklizards. very very slow in the weeds has worked well for me. I have also had decent luck with a big Zara spook in these areas this year.

i love the big topwater hit but listen and read what these other guys say. they have been a wealth of knowledge for me. also search thru this northeast area for other posts that are older. there is so much info hidden in these 400ish pages of old posts. also keep an eye on craigslist, everyone in a while there will be a free beat up canoe or small boat someone just wants to get rid of for free. All you need is a life jacket , an oar to go with it some rope all free on craigslist with time and a rock off the side of the road for an anchor. but dont forget though, there are lots of fish you can catch from shore. My personal best although less than 5 lbs comes from shore. Have fun. If i get up in your area with no kids and a seat available in my 12 foot jon boat, i will try to get in touch with you.

If you go from the iron bridge towards the Concord Monitor building and take the train tracks to your right and follow the river down stream you can get down to the other side of where the old d**n used to be at sewalls falls. It is NOT an easy hike to get down there, but I went a few summers ago and you can access the deeper water that people cant get to from the other side of the d**n where everyone usually fishes. Me and clr9933 combined for around 30 smallmouth in about an hour and a half, while a guy and his kid staning on the other side of the dam did not get a bite the entire time. You can also try waiding across the river too if it is really low.
