what chatterbait do you use/like the best? ones that are available now...not out of production ones..

my BPS has
the original Z-man...seems like the hooks are dull out of the package... easily fixed i guess
and
booyah...which has the flexible hook...i'm not sure if that is a good feature or not?

what are your opinions?

thanks..

I haven't fished every variation of the chatterbait out there, so I'm not an expert, but of the ones I have fished, I like the Booyah, I think that the flexible hook is a great idea. Lately I've been fishing a Gambler version of the chatterbait. It has more of a football head to it rather than an Arkie type head. It came in a pretty neat bluegill imitating color.

I have the Chatterbait, the Booyah Boogie, and the Pure Poison, and the Chatterait is by far the best for me. I have seen the Gambler version, and of course now I want one.

I use the Chatterbait, don't use the knock-offs even though I have several of those in different brands and customs.
The worse performing knock-offs are those that have a split ring between the jig eye and blade.

I started with the Chatterbait but thought it was made with poor components. Then it was the Booyah Boogee Bait which I really liked except for that Leverage flexible hook system. Since then it's been the Gambler Swim Blade.

The worse performing knock-offs are those that have a split ring between the jig eye and blade.

The Gambler Swim Blade, which Ive used (see above) has a split ring. It performs differently, but I don't know what you mean by "worse performing." The Gambler has more lift, which means it runs higher in the water column at a similar retrieve speed or runs deeper at a lower retrieve speed. I attribute this to the split ring because there's nothing else apparent that would account for the difference. So it's different, not worse.

I read just within the last couple days that the Chatterbait will have a new hook. When that hits stores I'd be willing to try it again.

I bought a bunch of these when they became popular a few years back. I like the Swim Blade best but Gambler stopped making them a few years back. I think I only have one left. One small negative- I found that the split ring on the Swim BLade can open up a bit after a few fish. It can interfere with the blade which sometimes requires a little snap of your rod tip to get it going again.

I have been eying the Piranha by D&M and would be interested in hearing from anyone who has used it.

I have used chatterbait, pure poison, booyah, and revenge chatterbaits and I think I like the chatterbaits and revenge the best. The chatterbaits Im using are the Pro model in 3/8 and 5/8.

For me - the Z-man TrailerZ chatterbait - 3/8 oz. Guess I'm partial to it since I caught my 9.06 PB on one last February...and a 6.32 on the same bait the next day...
