Which one and why? I'm headed to Bass Pro in the morning and want to trade in a reel that I don't use anymore. Both brands are also offering a $30 rebate on these models. I have a Curado that I'm really happy with, its last years model, I was leading toward another however I noticed the Revo has more bearings. Reel will be use for jigs and plastics. What do you think?

Stick with the Shimano, you are familiar with that brand. You dont want to have to adjust, or have "variables," when switching reels. You should be able to just pick up the other reel (new reel) and cast the bait right into place.

The number of bearings can be mis-leading. Bassmaster magazine did an article of reel bearings a couple of months ago, I cant find the exact magazine to give you the month to look up.

Tuff call. Last years curado was a cagillion times better. This years? The playing field levels somewhat. I'd still go shimano based on braking system and lighter weight. I own the sx and like it other than it feels heavy in hand.

I use mostly Shimano but have a 2 yr old SX too. Compared to my (last year's) Curado 50E, which is better? I haven't had a minute of trouble from either, so for me it's a draw. I like the SX mag brakes - they work very well and the external control is nice. I wish I had passed on the 7:1 gears; JMHO, they're too steep for comfort. The Curado is lighter and I bet it will be as trouble free through the years as all my Shimanos have been.

I just compared those two at BPS today. i was killing some time before a seminar and decided to handle both. First I will say I am a Revo Premiere person. I liked the smoothness of the SX better, but liked the weight of the Curado in my hand. Both had a solid feel to them and both have $30 rebates. But with the Revo you also get a cool fishing shirt!! I do not think you can go wrong with either one. I would get the Revo, but I now know why people like their Curado's.

Thats a tough call. My Curados are E's, and I know they are a different world of performance than the new G's. I love my SX too. The SX is very smooth, but its hard to beat the quality of Shimano products. # of bearings isnt as important as placement. I can tell you that my 50E can cast farther and is smoother than my SX. My opinion, if your going for the rebate, get the SX, and get online and find an E series for sale if you want a Curado.

Last years model had 10 bearings and the new model (Curado ) has 5. I think last years model is the better one!

The curado is a little more user friendly IMO.

Thanks for the help guys! I went in with the intention of either a Corado or Revo SX and ended up with the Chronarch. Can't wait to spool it up tonight.

You will love it I am sure! My buddy has one and is very happy with it. He bought it after having to listen to me rave about my curado over and over and over and... lol

Exactly what I was thinking! Should be a great light weight flipping rod.
