  1. I need help? I have a 98' 175 Merc efi and to help save money I wanted to change the lower unit oil my self. I was told that it would take 2 plus quarts. I drained the unit and when I went to fill it (using a pump through the bottom plug) could only get about 24 oz in it. Any help with this will be greatly appriciated. Also can the lower unit be flushed with trans fluid or something else to clean it?
  2. Thanks so much. I used to have it done but can't afford $120.00 an hour for things I might be able to do myself well that is with help like yours. Thanks again!
  3. Does anyone know the amount of gear lube it takes to fill the foot on a 200 hp Merc? The parts store sold me 3 qts @ $$$$ and I can't get any more than about 3/4 of a qt in it? I used a pump to put it in from the bottom and its running out the top vent. Thank You for the help.
  4. Can the wire from the transducer be repaired or does it need to be replaced?
  5. I have an 02 4.6 F-150 with over 100,000 miles that I pull a 19 foot Ranger. I have had no problems.
  6. How did you confirm the vent on the tank. I had one that the hose between the tank and the vent topside had seperated. You could blow through it and smell gas. But apearently the lineing would colapse and not allow air movement. Loosening the fill cap and having the primer expand is what finaly made me check the vent closer. Glad you didn't use the shop vac on the tank.
  7. You listed that you replaced the tank pick-up tube. Are you sure that it has enough clearence off the bottom of the tank, that is if it is a ridgid tube?

  11. I have a 98' Merc 175 and i'm new to big motors, last one was a 85' 90 hp Merc. Well last trip out the alarm sounded while I was accelerating to put the boat on plane. It stopped before I could get it shut down. Then sounded again when coming off plane. It did this three times. It didn't do it when I headed in to the ramp. Any and all help will be greatly appriciated.
