  1. Sad commentary on the times... :-/
  2. Hmmm..I would suggest grabbing the line rather than the lure for a "flopping and spinning" fish...unless you want to practice getting treble hooks out of your hand... 8)
  3. From the Fishin Book of Rules: Rule 6.4.3.67 If in the interest and betterment of the Sport of Fishing, the participant fish are willing and fully committed by virtue of their place, to be wet all of the time, the participating fishermen must be willing and committed to be wet some of the time. :
  4. I would also think that the drop shot rig would be more sensitive than the c-rig, since you don't have the weight between you and the bait...yes?
  5. Welcome! I also grew up in PA, trout fishin' with my dad...also fished the Delaware for smallies...used bamboo fly rods...what a lot of fun! Now I fish Loch Raven with a buddy who re-activated the bug...the reservoir does have some good fishin...and it's a very pretty place to spend some time...all sorts of wildlife. I'll try and leave some bass for ya... ;D
  6. What are the pros and cons of a C-rig vs, 1) split shot rig 2) drop shot rig ??
  7. Nah...I was pretty sure it wasn't a night club ;D Formerly from PA, I remember the slate quarries, etc., and often wondered about the fish content. Since they were largely private and considered very dangerous, I never checked them out. Any special techniques for such deep clear water? No structure or cover to speak of, right? And the fish can thrive in those envormentally-troublesome things, eh?
  8. ok....I'll bite... what is a "strippin pit" ??
  9. When I was a young'un, my dad and I would go out and gather black walnuts (Gramdma made a *killer* black walnut cake...but I digress...) Bringing them home, we would soak the walnuts to soften the green leathery outer shell, so we could get to the nut underneath (which required a gorilla to open, but I digress again...) Anyway...we would dump the bucket onto the lawn -- and the earthworms would just about leap out of the ground! I guess the acidity of the water made them uncomfortable, and up they came, ready for the picking. Now, black walnuts are gathered in the fall, so this is a bit of a seasonal solution (no pun intended)...but maybe you could bottle the stuff and save it for the rest of the year. Man, I can almost taste that cake...
  10. Whoa! It would be a good-sized bass to have a walnut-sized brain ;D But then again, if it did have a powerful brain, that would allow it to be smart enough to survive and grow bigger, and then have room for a bigger brain, so it can grow... [dope slap myself] This is making my head hurt... Maybe fisherman are getting stupider (taller, fer sure, per the Civil War example...but then again there were no Senkos during the Civil War...) [sigh] Fish will always be a challenge to catch...that's why we keep coming back. If they jumped into the boat when you hold a lure aloft, that wouldn't be much fun...
  11. you can also tell by the *stiffness* of the tail ;D
  12. yeah, but... what bait do you use for tornado-crazed bass? some sort of spinnerbait, I presume... ;D 8)
