  1. OH! The pressure! Now we have to actually catch something since I have to post my results?? The low in Caddo will be 61* while we're there, ten degrees lower than Houston. I'll be glad to get there, and even more glad when we catch our first bass! I'm trying to think positive here...
  2. Thanks Catt, we'll stop and get some red shad, junebug, grape, and plum. I have watermelon/red w/ a u-tail, and chartreuse/pumpkin finesse. I have a nice white buzzbait. Will need to get a couple of soft jerkbait. Great advice on nixing the weights and seeking out the thick grass, thanks for your help.

  4. Hello! Hubby and I just left Academy with what we hope is a good start on tackle and equipment to have a bit of fun on Caddo Lake this weekend. It's his birthday The fishing report from TPWD for Caddo Lake is: "Water stained; 78-86 degrees; slightly above conservation pool. Black bass are good on black/red or watermelon Senkos on the grass and along the edges of lily pads and on soft plastic frogs over grass and lily pads. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs around cypress trees and in the river bends. Bream are fair around cypress trees on crickets and worms. Catfish are good on limblines with cut bait." Neither of us have any idea what we're doing. We read the article "Angling 101" http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/beginning_fishing.html, and went to Academy and bought two licenses, two rods w/ reels, and partially filled a tackle box as best we could using the list from the article. The rods are 7' Shimano Stimula, with Shimano Slade 4000 FB reels. So, I'm hoping before we actually get on the road from Houston up to Caddo I could possibly hear from some experienced anglers who know the Caddo area. We have a cabin in the state park, so we're not exactly on the lake. Also, I've never eaten bass before ~ what is it like? Similar to tilapia? Not that we'll necessarily be catching any this weekend! I've wanted to go fishing for the last fifteen years, I can't believe we're finally getting to do it!
