Just my luck, the float is attached to the bottom of the tank. Looks like ill be in the market for a new tank. I have the sensor un hooked for now, so i can fish in peace. Thanks again for the help. Art

Thanks for the great inputs. You all led me in the right direction. I filled it up with oil and the buzzing stayed, I then emptied the oil resevoir and found that the magnetic sensor float is not wanting to float any longer. I removed the probe and the buzzing went away, I installed the probe and the buzzing returned. I slowly added oil and the buzzing stopped, but as i added more oil the buzzing came back. I assume that the float is too saturated to float in the heavy oil. The float post is plastic melted to the resevoir....so i dont know if i need a new tank or if someone can repair the float? Thanks again.

I believe that it is oil injected. the oil tank is mounted on the front of the motor and there is a sight gauge to see how full the tank is. The sight gauge shows that im half full of oil, I will remove the filler cap and look down in there to verify. The fill cap is on the motor.

This is my first time in any type of forum, I see some really great info and sharing......so i hope that I too can be of some use and get some help myself. I have a 2001 Tracker Pro Team 165, I was fishing this weekend and all of the sudden i heard this annoying buzzer or alarm going off under the dash area. I have heard similiar sounds in farm tractors when they overheat, so i checked the water stream coming out of the MERC 50hp and it was a little slow but good when i got in the gas. I shut the boat down for about an hour and as soon as i turn the key on, the noise is still there. It has been sitting overnight and still makes the noise as soon asi turn the key, so I know its not still too hot.. I have only had this boat for about two years and the guy that i got it from had no paperwork or manuals for me to use for troubleshooting. Thanks in advance for even looking at this NEWBIES post!
