  4. As some of you guys have seen and heard, i caught a 10.2 thursday night on the 9" original MS slammer in rainbow color. I still can not beleave it...just incredible!!!! Short story to the fish- Headed out thursday in hopes of getting a 7+ to get a ticket to Matts swimbait raffle from Dave. I knew conditions would be a little tough, because of the spawn starting. Saw some beds with no fish on them, so that got my hopes up a bit. Started out with a white spinner bait, but soon switched to all topwater, while skipping a BICO under the docks where available. No fish on the 7" frog or big super spook, so i put on the 9" rainbow, it hopes to get hit by a bigger fish than with the 7". Fished off a point into a windless shore line just as it was getting dark. Some new pads were coming up in the area i was fishing. Got the perfect wake going for the slammer that i have hardly fished. About 15 feet from the boat I see a big fish suck it down. It wasn't a huge crashing hit, but she sucked it down like a big bass does. I knew right away it was a big fish. Im glad i had the extra heavy rod with 25 pound mono. Saw i had a pretty good hookset on her, so i let her tire out just a tiny bit (probably about 10 seconds ) Before i brought her to the boat and lipped her. I couldn't beleave my eyes! I knew for sure i got the 7+...and more! 10.2 pounds! Took the lengthxgirth because i knew i would get a replica done. Took some pictures and called my dad i was releasing the monster. Fished the rest of the night still shaking from that fish!
  5. Jigs work well in the waltham area in the overhangs, brush, and wood in the river.

  8. Thanks for posting the pic Paul! The fish was caught in SE MA...not near the cape.
  9. Thanks for taking me out Paul! Awsome to finaly get some smallies. That pond could easily give out a PB largie to me as well during the spawn, i will deffintly check it out later! Looking for the 8+ largie this year ;D
  10. Quick correction on my orginal post, we use symetres and SEDONAS not sahara's ;D
  11. We use shimano Symetres, both for light weight saltwater stripers, and freshwater bass. We have caught stripers up to 30 pounds on these light 4000 size reels. They are very durable. Another, cheaper choice that we have used is the Shimano Sahara. Saharas in the 4000 size do not seem to be to big for freshwater either.
