  1. So, my question is when did you fall in love with fishing? I fished when I was a kid, but didn't really understand the sport until recently. I have only been fishing for about a year, and I really began to love fishing when I was introduced and instructed by a dear friend of mine who had an extreme passion for the sport. Unfortunately he's gone, but he gave me something I will never forget - the peace of being out on the lake. The focus he had in preparing, and planning. Now, his words come back to me, when I am choosing just the right lure, picking the right spot. I have needed a safe place to escape and find peace, and he introduced me to this wonderful sport of fishing. I go out on the lake and I can find serenity. A sense of hope. I am eager to learn more, and I am getting better every day. Thank you to all of the friends who have helped me and answered my questions. I am truly grateful for this board.
  2. Hey Bassn - we're neighbors! I am in Boynton Bch. - I haven't ever fished those canals, but like I posted earlier, my neighborhood lakes are full of peacocks - I plan on hitting Okeeheelee this wknd. with the kids before I head up to Tn. for Spring Break.
  3. Hmmm... I don't know. Hey whereabouts in Fl are you? I have never been night fishing and am really interested - where do you fish?
  4. Nice looking peacock! I haven't caught any after dark, but here in our neighborhood lakes, we certainly have seen some great catches! I am curious too - what bait do you use at night?
  5. I'll keep that in mind. - Thanks!
  6. That's what I thought - thanks for all the great advice
  7. Yeah, I was wondering about the level there - thanks. What about night fishing? I've never been night fishing and I'd love to at least one night- do you think it's too early? I heard summer is the best time, but like I said, I have never been.
  8. Yes - I don't really have any experience trout fishing. My son caught a few last time we were up there, but I was really thinking more along the lines of bass fishing. Have you been to Douglas Lake?
  9. Thanks - I had planned on heading to Douglas Lake. Our cabin is right on Little Pigeon River - up in the mountains on Old Crow Rd. in Sevierville. I am looking forward to some great fishing. Thanks so much for the info -
  10. I am heading up to our cabin in Sevierville, TN. next month and would love some tips on where to fish in that area.
  11. I hear you - - Just today my boys came back from fishing our neighborhood lake and had caught several of both. We get more action in our own backyard most of the time, than we do on our trips to other, larger lakes.
  12. Great Post. You have always had great instincts, as well as insight. No distractions - focus on your plan. You should be writing for a magazine. Very descriptive and informative.
  13. I found in our lakes that the bass have been hitting 4 storm baits on the deeper holes, with many of the fish brought in weighing 5 pounds~ The smaller fish near the banks are hitting small spinner baits and watermelon color flukes. Shiners will also produce many fish - my son caught several 4-5 lb bass in our local pond last week.
  14. Hey I was reading your thread - I live pretty close to Wellington and had never heard of fishing those canals before, although you can catch some nice fish throughout most of the Fl. canals. -I have fished some in Delray (by Lake Ida) - but that was a while ago. I'm heading over to Lake Osborn tomorrow.
  15. Small mouth bass & peacock bass - Going back tommorrow..
  16. Pretty good. My son and I went out for the day and he caught a couple small mouth, a nice peacock and 2 largemouth that were over 6lb. each. I only caught 1, but it was a nice 4lb largemouth - I thought it was gonna be bigger actually, it put up quite a fight!! Every time we go, we are not disappointed. Great fishing.
  17. I know a few people who have used Roland Martin's Marina before. If you're going to be in Boynton you should go check out Lake Osborn in Lantana.
  18. Hmm. I last caught a nice one last week on Lake Okeechobee. Nice 4lb largemouth. Put up quite a fight! I love fishing. Even if I don't catch anything. The quiet, calm sound, the feel of the breeze and the warm sun -there's nothing else like it.
  19. That's a great story! Have fun at the All American!
  20. LOL! I was out there last weekend, it was pretty low. I know they're getting some rain now though.
  21. Hey! I fished that lake last wknd with my 20 yr. old son!! That pic of the bass with the small head looks very familiar... lol!! We had pretty good weather for most of the day. Only caught 2, but it was a nice time together.
