A friend of mine gave me a spool of Suffix DNA fishing line. The cover on the spool touts the words "extra limp and smooth". Spooling it on my Quantum Catalyst BC, I can tell you it is truly both, and in some ways reminds me of a wet noodle. Using it I notice it casts a bit farther, is abraison resistant, and has NO memory. Anything other advantages to using a "extra limp line"? anyone else tried this?

I've used the 6# for light tackle and 10# as leader. Casts very well, no noticable line twist. Haven't used it long enough to say yea or nea on durability.

I've owned a couple of Pflueger Presidents and they are a surprisingly good reel for the price. Durable too. Bought them as backups to my Symetre, but found them to perform about as well. I prefer the 6725 because of the extra spool capacity (115 yds vs 105 for the 6720). Got it matched with with a 6' SC Premier (Light, 4 - 8 line weight). Prefer light power since it balances better with the 6725 and I rarely use 2 Lbs test. Don't know much about the Sedona 500, only the old Sedona 8000 which isn't applicable to this discussion. Pflueger also makes the President XT ($20 more), but don't own one.

Appreciate all the feedback. I plan to buy a Sienna or Symetre Rear drag to satisfy my curiousity, if nothing else. Good fishing to you all this season.

I was looking at a Shimano Symetre REAR-DRAG reel (1500 FJ) the other day. Never used one, any of you guys own a rear drag spinner? Prefer them? Any advantages to them?

Crankbaits...until I master depth control with these things, it will be a battle.

I have had some pleasant surprises regarding some of my backup (i.e. cheap) reels(Pflueger President, Shimano Sienna,), but for the most part I think you get what you pay for.

Berkeley Trilene Pro grade Flourocarbon. Give it a try. Kind of pricey.

Can't vouch for the particular St.Croix you will be using, but can tell you that I have had success with the Symetre. Great drag, not the smoothest spinner you'll use, but hasn't failed to bring in smallies or LMB. I also use it in the Chesapeake Bay for Spot and Blues (yea, I'm pushing the limits of this reel with Bluefish). It needs a bit more oil and grease than my other reels. I own the 4000 matched with a 7' Ugly Stick for Freshwater and have put 14 Lbs fireline on it for the Bay.
