Use of a GPS as a back seater?
Phhht! You're over complicating it. As a boater, just put the console graph in demo mode. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Fishing Forearm?
For you guys pitching heavy jigs and punch rigs, consider having a rodsmith balance your rod with the bait on it. I added a bit of weight to my flipping stick, and while it feels a little funny throwing frogs, its perrrrrrrfect for pitching 1 to 1.5 oz. baits.

Use of a GPS as a back seater?
There is another side to this equation that no one has brought up. if you blow up others' secret spots, do you think you'll get many invites to fish? Probably not. Put the tournament spin on this. Develop a reputation of a selfish non boater, or blabber mouth, and you'll find tournament directors handing you your entry fee back, saying "No thanks." It really does happen.

Use of a GPS as a back seater?
Lots of interesting viewpoints here. Let's remove the tournament aspect here. A buddy takes you to his "secret spot." You bang a bunch of really good fish. Later, you are fishing with another buddy. Do you take him to the secret spot? Not without permission from your buddy that showed you the spot. I have many places that I will not fish or take others to without asking the person that showed me the spot. The bottom line here, is ASK. Be prepared for "no" as an answer. Now, put this in a tournament perspective. You really need to check the rules, as in some points series I've fished, sharing info gleaned from the back of the boat may be verboten, if you are fishing with different boaters each day. In most cases, the boater already has a plan anyway, and as a non boater, your job is to adapt to the boater's style, and fish what water you get. Now, dropping way points into a portable GPS....ehh, I think you should ask the boater if they mind you bringing one at all, before leaving the launch. As with everything that has to do with fishing etiquette, level headed communication is a must.

Barometric Pressure
I agree with that. But, up here we get some weather patterns that are much more dramatic than down south. They're not as easy to spot or predict either. Wind did a 180 this weekend. Shut the lake down. No one caught after 10 am. I know no one in our club could react to the changes. At least two guys came up with limits, which proves your point: someone can get bit.

Ehhh. Yes and no. Its what you do to adjust to changing conditions that makes the difference. The problem is when a guy goes out two weeks later, after having having a bang up day on the water, and thinks he can do the same thing with the same results. Day by day, this stuff rarely matters. However, I will say it mattered this past weekend, especially on Sunday. I can't honestly think of too many two days that were as far apart on one weekend. See my report...Saturday, my friend weighed in over 20 lbs. of smallies on Conesus. Sunday, my club mostly blanked, and many of those guys are Conesus locals. Cold front rolled in, wind shifted 180*.

Anyone like the taste of Bluegill?
Bigger than my outstretched hand. Beer battered and deep fried.

Rod Building
I'm thinking about something like this: http://www.thefishgripandmore.com/product/6256923%20B1 Alternatively, what about a shiv, er...I mean letter opener?

Rod Building
Lots of engineering go into to lures, but he probably wouldn't understand..... How about a tool, like a lip gripper or something?

Rod Building
Why not build a lure?

How 'bout them Cowboys???
A team that can't even get substitutions on the field, or have the FG unit come out without a delay of game penalty simply is not playoff material. That's from a long time Dallas fan.

bass hitting bluegills
Do you have the floater or the sinker? What kind of fish have you caught with it? I was just using the picture I posted to show a hard swim-bait in a bluegill color because it was on the computer, and i was too lazy to go on TW and find mine. I could never spend $80 on a swim bait. But i've caught some swimbait fish on a Reaction Strike Revolution Bluegill 3.5" in slow sink as I recently picked up the bluegill color to get into this swimbait craze. This is the one im using -->http://www.***.com/Reaction_Strike_Revolution_Bluegill_35/descpage-RSRBG.html#multiview Thanks. Next time just post the highlighted section. Keep it real, man. Good, honest advice is what I like to see!

Mercy!
Nice job, one of Santa's Helpers. Put in the good word for an SI unit for me. I've been an occasional good boy this year, LOL.

Mercy!
Some things are junk, and I think its pretty easy to find the consensus exactly what those products are. Others are just brand favoritism. many simply know that what they have works for them, and since they never tried anything else, its all they know. Yet others have had a singular experience with a product, so bad that it has tainted their opinion of that entire brand. So how about a proper introduction here, and tell us about yourself?

Tow Vehicle
One of the guys in my club has one, and tows a 20' Pro Craft. When we caravan to the launch, he's the first to run out of gas. Small gas tank + Poor towing mileage = major inconvenience. I don't know if a bigger tank is an option, if so I'd say its a must have.
-
Tow Vehicle
I've seen more than a few of these smaller 8 cyl. SUVs get eaten up by towing. Seems like Cherokees, Blazers, Explorers, Durangos just aren't up to the task. Keep in mind that a Tahoe weighs quite a bit more than an ext/crew cab, and mileage will suffer. BTW, I picked up my Sierra brand new for just a few thousand more than your max limit. They are literally giving them away up here.

Wacky or Nose hooked for Dropshot?
If its a senko, wacky all the way, and with a long drop line. For anything else, nose hooked. I let the fish and cover do the talking when determining dropper line.

Dave Wood Keuka Open 10/16/2010
Fished Dave Wood's open on Keuka with my man Tucker Saturday. We chatted early in the week, and he was on some big brown fish in practice. High winds, rain earlier in the week, and weather changed the game though, we couldn't duplicate. It was fun though, and I learned even more about this lake. I've only fished it a dozen times, and I really like it. We had 10 lbs of brown fish. My dink LMB caught late in the day didn't make the cut, LOL. Some massive fish were brought to the scales. I'm sorry, but I'm not familiar most of these guys' names, otherwise I'd give credit where credit's due. 21+ lbs. won the event. Enjoy the pics! Dave manning the scales. As if that pig smallie wasn't enough, these guys brought a legit 7-2 LMB to the scales for lunker. Congrats gents!

Flower City - Conesus Lake - 10/17
Ouch! With fish kills, cynobacteria blooms, and low water, we moved our final event from Sodus Bay to Conesus. Personally, I was fine with fishing Sodus. For the vote, I tossed Canadaigua as my nomination, but Conesus won out by a landslide. Too many guys' home lake. I was looking forward to fishing this, and after seeing Noel Good's report, I was really excited. I did keep in the back of my mind that this lake will sometimes totally shut down. But that's a rare thing, fishing there is almost always great. Well, it shut down big time, LOL. I got four bites, one on a spinnerbait, three more on a jig. This resulted in one northern pike (spinnerbait) and one LMB. My partner Bill L. had about the same, boating one bass on a jig. Good enough for 4th, and a classic berth. Bill cinched up points for AOY. I ended the season in 2nd. Ridiculously tough day out there. Here's the pics that tell the story: Weigh bags, we don't need no stinkin' weigh in bags! Just bring you're one dink directly to the scale, LOL. Final results: Nguyen was all smiles, collecting cash for lunker and 1st place.
