  1. I have a ton of Pointers and X-Raps, but my favorite is a Flash Minnow.
  2. Nice work gentlemen! I so need a father son day fishing. Its been years since I fished with my dad.
  3. Rent may have put the final nail in the Texas casket.
  4. Not SWL, they shun swivels. Looks pretty neat, though.
  5. Never use a trailer with a hair jig.
  6. I used 14/6 in smoke and crystal for casting spoons and plugs for trout and salmon and had great success with it. It gets a little "fuzzy" with use, and the crystal can stain in colored water. Sub freezing conditions caused me to switch back to mono for this, but I see no reason it wouldn't work well for bass.
  7. That probably boils down to a preference for Daiwa's Magforce brakes than any quality issue. Otherwise, they are very similar. I've used both, and own a Calcutta 200B for swimbaits in the 1-4 oz. size.
  8. Bionix were nice crappie and walleye rods. I still have a 6-6 "Medium" spinner.
  9. The E is an updated version of the D, though both are very similar. They are designed for tossing bigger baits and have plenty of capacity for heavier lines. While a Cardiff is an excellent choice, the Curado is probably a nicer choice, especially if you are not used to round reels.

  11. Looks good, if you are a boater. Do they come in smaller sizes?
  12. Thread already running. Third in a week or so... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1288063724
  13. Its a good video, the trick has been around for years. Also a good way to attach trailer hooks to buzzbaits.
  14. 12# mono on a spinning reel.....ehhhh, I'll pass, unless its a 5000 class or larger, LOL. That diameter line is meant for baitcasting. I've used several braided/superlines on spinning gear, from 14# Crystal to 20# Power Pro. Braid is a nice match for spinning. Yes, it can get twisted, but that's minimal. I've got a Daiwa 1500 size reel with 4 year old 15# Power Pro on it that is showing no signs of needing replacement. As far as how much line it holds? Look at the reel's capacity specs on the spool itself. Most have ratings for both diameter and average test pound sizes. I use Daiwa 1500, 2000, and 2500, and Shimano 2500 for bass. I do have a Shimano Stradic 1000, but that's simply a dock skipping rod, and not much more than 20' casts. Hods plenty of line for fish that run.
  15. That is a very nice 'bow man! Was out today, caught a few dinks on the 'pin and bead. A stud Coho buck teased me until dark. I hate it when I can see them.
  16. You don't know for sure 100%, but if you have two anglers in the boat, throwing the exact same bait, in two different dolors, and one is getting bit while the other isn't, you can change to the color getting bit, and produce. To further prove this, you can have the angler getting bit change to the color not producing, and see what happens. I've experienced this many times during practice and tournament fishing from the back of the boat. It literally pays to pay attention. I'd put money down on most guys that say color doesn't matter, do not fish clear lakes often. By clear, I'm talking 10+ feet of visibility. True, contrast, or general vicinity on pattern often gets bit. But if you have found the fish, and found what baits they will bite, its time to play with color. On some lakes, color can even select for species. The wrong color can mean tons of pickerel or northerns on lakes like Oneida and Cayuga. Again, its important to be in the ballpark, but color is the last thing I start experimenting with, unless I'm REALLY desperate for a bite, LOL.
  17. Because the line's breaking strength is higher than the lines stated testing strength. Its pretty common with many lines, unless you are dealing with an IGFA approved line strength.
  18. You'll need to use a an offset weedless hook so you can use the same hookset, not knowing what bait is getting bit. You can't reel set a jig. You also want to be pretty careful with your knots. My experience has been that the tag end of a Palomar knot gets mangled, if tied correctly, and its a weak spot in the system.
  19. Bring some up. This is coontail: This is hair algae:
  20. I'll pick up the slack here.... Sorry, just couldn't help myself. Its getting warm in here, needs a little humor injected...;D ;D ;D
  21. With swimbaits, especially with slow presentations, realism is key most of the time. While I don't think actual color is that big a deal most of the time, when it is, it really is. But, this is about color recommendations for SML, not a debate on fishing skills or whether color matters. Let's stay on point.
