  1. Just pretreat your filler spools with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner, and you'll be good for a good long while. I buy big spools, some are over two years old. No difference between those and new.
  2. Well that did it. This one is GONE!!!!
  3. Nothing wrong with that! Some cars are better candidates for "original restos." My BIL had a 67 Regal Gran Sport that was one such car. Took several years to source parts, but totally worth it - beautiful car. His 65 Le Mans "poser GTO" on the other hand has a totally modern drive train, suspension and brakes. That car is actually really fun to drive, because you can actually drive it hard, and not have to worry about stopping!
  4. Awesome, same contrail 24 hours later, no news reports! Suckers!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
  5. Exactly!!! If we were privy to the discounted shipping rates that places like BPS gets, all of our jaws would be on the floor. They make money on shipping to. If you understood anything about running a retail business, you'd know that you lose money on low revenue transactions.
  6. The only thing bad in that dessert is the waffle cone, and the fact that the portion size is too big. I'm diabetic (insulin dependent), and I wouldn't hesitate to share that dessert with someone.
  7. Haven't tried them, but the Wacky Worm would look good on a flick shake jig. If it came in a 3" version, it would destroy Great Lakes steelhead. Yeah, green fish are a distant memory for me up here, LOL.
  8. No. http://www.japantackle.com/Shimano/Shimano_AldebaranMg_Mg7.htm
  9. No general preference, though I do have specific preferences, based on bait or technique. I think my shortest handle is 6". The longest is around 11". I have a steelhead rod with a VERY long handle, probably close to 18" or more. Depends on what your doing. Wouldn't want to roll cast with a long handle. Wouldn't want to toss big swimbaits with a short one either.
  10. Is that a scratched up Aldebaron? ;D
  11. Yep, especially if you peg a heavy weight. The solutions are pretty clear, use better hooks or snell them. Even snelling can pose issues with the line coming through a gap. Last time I looked, Owners were pinched shut, with a flattened end.
  12. Has ANYONE ever gotten through the checkout with less than $50? ;D ;D ;D
  13. That seller will combine orders, and discount shipping. It encourages purchasing multiple items. What do you think Bass Pro Shops would charge? $4.95 for five skirts that cost $2.99. Its a very common practice. :
  14. The J hooks are light wire, and the Wide Gap Plus are 3X wire. Same basic shape.
  15. Olive Fingers:
  16. Same as any other line - depends on the bait, and how deeply they take it. If you value your baits, use a 50-100# fluoro leader, or some kind of steel. The best for metal leaders I've found is titanium. Pricey, but lasts a long time, and doesn't kink. Another good product is Cortland Toothy Critter. Tieable and strong, great for Texas rigging baits.

  19. If its cheating or breaking the law, look elsewhere for advice. Please explain your motives.
  20. I get bit both ways. Its probably a 75/25 split for sliding/pegged. I usually peg when working thick coontail, and I don't feel the bait getting down through the crowns. Sliding weights give a whole different presentation, and they do shed weeds quite well with a little shake. Although they look similar, a pegged t-rig isn't really the same as a jig. I've had days where the fish have shown a preference.
  21. Rapala = inconsistent, overpriced junk that continually produces. Drives me nuts.
  22. Color transparencies (slides) were available by the late 1930s, though very expensive. Transparencies are hold much more detail than any color print. As long as the transparencies were kept intact, resulting images made from them should be OK. About "enhancement"....it is a given that any digital scans would be color corrected and probably sharpened (which actually involves very selective blurring) to demosaic the raw digital scans. The same process would be applied to traditional analog prints made from transparencies. I wouldn't know if these are legit, but it is plausible. At any rate, they are a cool set of images. Seems like way too much work to artificially colorize them, but who knows - ten minutes on YouTube, and you'll see some have wayyyyy too much free time,LOL.
  23. Lake George is about 30 miles from there. I'd go there instead.
  24. I'm breaking the rules, but.... Some darkies: And a brown in its non spawning colors:
  25. Big pike, over 10 lbs. feed heavily on hammer handle pike. My guess is that they stock with cannibalism in mind. If you get something over ten, don't fool around with it - its a special animal. Get it in the net, a quick pic, and back in the water. Just hold it upright, and let it breath. You'll feel it tense up, and get ready to swim off once its shed the lactic acid from its bloodstream. I see too many people needlessly kill big pike using under-matched gear and handling them too long. Nothing sporting about killing a pike you intend to release.
