My bass boat came with a simple depth finder built into the dash. The transducer was hull mounted. Almost immediately I began to experience loss of signal (LOS) at some point after getting my boat on plain. Sometimes the signal would come back and other times the signal wouldn't return until the boat was again back in the hole. The dealer sent me a new transducer which I chose this time to mount on the transom because I was afraid of running into the same problem again. Well, here we are a couple of years down the road and I've been experiencing the same problems all along and just living with it. When I lowered the transducer as far as my current mounting will allow I have noticed the frequency of LOS has decreased but I am still experiencing it to often. The transducer is mounted to the starboard side on the lowest or deepest point of the tramsom. However, when the boat moves this entire area is in mild turbulent water or severely turbulent water. My flasher is mounted on the port side along the same plain. 1) What might have been wrong with the original hulled mounted transducer and could it have been fixed? 2) I am thinking of repalcing this dash mounted depth finder with a digital depth finder and replacing my bow mounted flasher with an easier to read LPG unit. Where should I mount the transducers for these units and how? Looking forward to your feedback :-/

Alright....Spring has sprung and time to uncover my boat for its spring shakedown....... EEEEK!!! My boat carpet looks like a mountain lions den! Brown cat from stim to stern. Some of it is in hair balls and some of it looks ground into the carpet. Anyone have some suggestions on how I can get this "hairy" mess cleaned up? I'm thinking about using a gallon of nair on the boat carpet. Can you get that size container maybe at Sam's Club? Electolisis? oh, on the cat? Not a bad idea! All "hair-brained" ideas will be appreciated.. ;D
