Largemouth are the best fighters!!!!!!
Largemouth over 10 pounds do have the uncanny ability to some how get off your line. It seems its just something they do. They arent the best fighters, strength wise, but they shake those hooks. Ive had entirely too many broken heart experiences with DD largemouth, but in the last few years it seems I win more than I lose. I once hooked a largemouth that I estimated at 15 pounds. I hooked it on a long cast in the middle of the summer. I made it through 5 acrobatic, head shaking, water clearing jumps and figured I had her. Nope. The sixth jump came 10 feet from the boat and she promptly threw the bait back at me. Thats one I will never forget :-[ However, theres more to the story. A week later at 2 in the morning on the exact same spot I landed a 14.5, as far as I could tell by the sound it jumped a bunch so I guess luck was on my side that time

Delaware River - Multi-species
Nice outing! That first fish is a snake bodied brown trout. Mrs. Matstone, do you have a single sister who likes fishing by chance?

Last nights stinkfest...
Umm, that fish isnt a pike. Its a chain pickeral. And a pickeral and a walleye arent even almost the same fish. Two different families. A walleye is actually a perch (family Percidea). I spose Canadiens just have some odd local slang.

Spot or not??
The tongue patch is not a diagnostic characteristic for spotted bass. Small numbers of both largemouth and smallmouth can have the tooth patch on the tongue.

Fish Chris and the other Hawg Hunters
1. To catch fish like you do you have to consistently chase the "big Bite". Are there days when you just say to heck with it and load the boat with "lesser" bass like the rest of us mortals? 2. What class bass does it take to even get you excited? Does it have to be 10# + or even hire after catching the monsters you do? 3. Patience seems to be a key. I don't have it. As far as fishing is concerned have you always had the patience or is it something you developed? 4.The window of opportunity to catch the type of fish you seek would seem to be very small as far as say 15#+. Once the spawn is over what are you targeting and do you fish more at night? 5. Was it always big bass or did your fishing just evolve into it?

What do you say to somebody like this ???
You also have to factor in culture. Different cultures in this world look at things differently.

State VS State -------- Game ON!
What the heck, nothing special but its a start. CA State Record is 21.75 (Jay, Crupis 22.01 was never recognized as the state record because DFG was not present to verify it was a largemouth. I guess they thought it could have been a spotted bass :-/) This fish went 6.25 from NorCal and fell to a swimbait.\ (6.25/21.75)*100 = 28.74 points sidenote: mine is a northern and Jays is a Florida. Do I get more points? :-?

Do you have any fishing quirks?
I never tie my baits on the night before, has to be in the morning before launching. I dont know why but that little kink in the line right at the rod tip bugs the snot out of me. I have to have my Philadelphia Flyers hat on. That reminds me, my current one is getting worn out. My boat has to be well organized while fishing, I stress when everything isnt "where its supposed to be." I refuse to use a net for big fish when Im by myself; but if my partner wants to bring a net thats ok. I cant stand it when my partner walks down to the ramp and starts casting before I launch a boat. If he catches one, which has happened, it usually turns into a crappy day. I usually start talking to the fish when swimbaiting and not getting bit, it goes something like this "come on fish, Ive been patience and havent complained, Ive been a good person this week, I wasnt mean to anybody, Ive put my time in, Im only asking for one bite, that doesnt seem unreasonable to me........"

Why dont they have 2 records for Largemouth bass? N & S?
Im very familar with Mr. Botroff. My info comes from exhaustive literature reviews, your info comes from people who were involved. So, if those you spoke with have good memories, your info may be more accurate. Ill send you full citations on Monday.

Why dont they have 2 records for Largemouth bass? N & S?
The reason there is only one world record for largemouth bass is because there is only one species of largemouth bass. Northern strain and Florida strain are subspecies. Until they are separated, and discussion continues among those researchers that do the species separations, there will only be one world record. Pretty simple. Hey WRB, check this out: "Northern strain largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides salmoides) were introduced to California in 1874 when they were transported from Quincy, Illinois and released into the Napa River and Alameda Creek (Emig 1966). Florida strain largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides floridanus) were introduced to California in 1959 when they were transported from Pensacola, Florida and released into Upper Otay Reservoir in San Diego County (Pelzman 1980)." If ya need full citations let me know.\ Oh, and to the person who said something like "at least we still have the world record smallmouth", you may want to hold your breath. Cali is going to have that record soon.
