Bass Tracker "Bantam"
Have been trolling around the site looking for the answer to this question without any luck... I had a Bass Tracker Bantam 3x given to me. It's a "plastic" hulled boat (sorry for the inaccurate language) that has seen it's better days. But it remains in worthy shape to use in small lakes around my house. Problem is this: the bottom of the boat is wearing thin. It has even been reinforced with fiberglass/bondo several times, but now this is even chipping off. So, what to do? Do they sell some sort of "skin" to cover the pontoons or would you use some sort of epoxy or waterproofing? ALL opinions welcome! Thanks.

What got you hooked?
The Bluegill. My grandfather had a small pond, less than half an acre full of them. The recipe was kite string with a knot on the end of it and American cheese. Caught them by the hundreds. Soon after that I graduated to spinning gear and real hooks, catfishing on the banks. Now, my latest addiction is kayak fishing. Mostly smallie fishin' the small streams.

Okay, selling my boat! HOW MUCH????
Here's my opinion: In my neck of the woods, MAYBE a grand, with the trailer.

RIVER Smallie Thread
I fish tubes at least half the time, all sizes. Also cast small suspending crankbaits with good success. Like to anchor just below riffles and nail 'em. Anxious to get back on the water this spring (WV) and work some more jigs.

Sit on top kayak or sit in?
Hey kickbass..don't buy either one of those. You won't enjoy fishing from those, they're not built for fishing. Kayaks are like anything else, you get what you pay for. Spend just a little more money, and get a longer craft (say 11 or 14 footer) and you will gain much more stability and comfort, not to mention peace of mind. Just another 100 bucks or so. I fish from an Islander, marketed for angling (sit-in). Has built in rod holders, and several mods I've done to it to make it more fishable. I absolutely love this style of fishing, if your expectations aren't too high. Don't know that I would try to mount a motor onto a kayak, though I've heard guys do. What I would try to accessorize it with is some sort of anchor. There's nothing more frustrating than locating fish just to have the current drift you downstream, only to have to paddle back to that location. Just be careful with the anchor, always have a way to break it loose, just in case of tangles/water conditions/etc. Good Luck!!

Anyone else here fish from a kayak?
LOVE fishing from my yak..just started last year, but I'm an addict now. Can't beat the stealthy feeling of sneaking up on fish in the shallows and "skinny" water. Yea, sure is fun fightin the big fish in one of these. IMO, this is the best way to fish. Simple, quiet, and productive.
