Harmful to bass???
I acctually just thought of this tonight while i was fishing.... Is bug spray harmful to bass I had a bad bug problem tonight so i sprayed some on like normal and on my hands to get around my face, right after that my next cast i caught a smaller sized bass good hook set and all, liped it unhooked it and dropped it in the water and it started to float belly up for a second then caught its self and took off... could it have been the spray?????

keeping the fish from shakin the hook loose
yea keep the line tight and also after the hook set keep the rod tip low to the water it will discourage the fish from jumping.

fluke colors
my favorite is Green Albino, it looks identical to a minnow great color yet i think they only make it in tiny fluke cuase i can't find it on any other fluke.

Gander Mountain?
it all depends on the size and location of the store. i work at the one here in wichita and as of right now our store is the second largest store in the company and we barely compare in size to some of the BP and Cabelas but if you are looking for something we can sure get them in. We carry just about anything you want depending on the location of the store. One thing that i try to do and i hope other associates do is take in what we learn in the field and just share it with the customers and that is really how i got hired at gander cuase that is what we look for, experince. i have been in Bass Pro and Cabelas and and it just might be becuase i work there but i think gander is much better in the customer service department.

best/funniest fishing saying
sorry i forgot the storie me and my little cousin who was 3 at the time were at our local lake bobber fishing for what ever and nothing was biteing at all. just out of the blue he started sing this little chant right after he was done his bobber sunk, it was pretty funny.

Sight Fishing
2 things i like to use a smith-wick perch color rip bait and i put a piece of foam tape on the tail and swim it right over the bed and kill it the foam tail will make the tail end rise as if a perch was about to atack the bed and "BAM" the fish will almost rip the rod out of my hand and second is a simple fluke i twitch over the bed and stop it and let it sink and fall on the bed. this method takes a couple times to acctually hook the fish cuase most of the time the fish wil grab it but not bite down they just want to move the bait away.

A little help
fishing a lake blind is pretty tough, i would suggest getting a good map of the lake to help narrow down your search of the bass. also talk with the local bait shop on the lake and see if anyone has had some good catchs. if the lake is anything like the ones here in kansas the bass are about to spawn right about now, so if you are going in may i would start with flats and channels for big females coasting along, if you want to just have fun and catch fish i would fish shallow along weed beds and suken timber for active fish. try anything and every thing you got on hand. lipless cranks would be ideal for the flats, and senkos, jigs, flukes, and shallow running cranks for every where eles. you could try jigs in the flats and channels but more than likley the big females will be suspended so bottom fishing might not be the answer. just experment and have fun.

fluke
yea in fact useing a rat-l-trap i caught a four pounder out of this little cove i fish not three weeks ago the only problem with that is i lost 2 taps to logs before i caught that 4lb and last year i caught a 6 and 5lbs off shalow cranks but that was warmer in the summer and i have tried useing bigger flukes over there with no luck at all. i know there are some big fish in there just this one bait only seems to get bit by small fish, witch don't get me wrong is fun but i would like a bigger fight once in awhile.
