  1. All excellent points! Thank you all for taking the time to respond. After review I decided on a St. Croix avid 6'6 with a Shimano symetre. Decision was primarily based on warranty. Again thank you all.
  2. When it comes to $150 to $200 rods is there really a difference in quality...performance..and best for the money? Or does it come down to just personal preference? Loomis...StCroix...Dobyns..Fenwick...Lamiglass...BPS...Shimano to name a few, all worthy rods, but is there a best all around? Is hand made in the good old USA better than foreign made? This is an all encompassing question and therefore maybe there is no answer. Hope not!!! This is all in regards to an all around spinning rod.
  3. Sorry for any confusion. My first posting and just getting back into fishing after many years due to two grandsons loving fishing. I certainly do not want to dissappoint grandchildren ages 11 an 9 by making them think Papa knows nothing regarding equipment etc. My local flier has a BPS sale...Shimano saros reel with a 70 modulus spinning rod with fuji concept guides. Looks like the pro qualifier rod. I'm asking if this is as good a deal as it looks. TIA
  4. I was hoping to get some response early as I am heading that way shortly and was going to make the purchase on the way.
  5. Any opinions on the BPS sale of the shimano saros paired with the 70 million modulus spinning rod for $149?
