Creative ways to put expired flares to good use?
I got a bunch of old flares hanging around that have since expired - anybody got an alternative use for them? I've used them to 1) start a fire in a rain storm 2) light a camp stove when I couldn't find any lighters/matches (overkill, I know ;D)

Disposing of old gas
Found this on the web (not sure if it works though but they never put stuff on the net that isn't true - right?? ). Maybe you could use it in your mower after you try the below. Procedures to Recondition Old Gasoline Filter gasoline into a safety-approved container through two layers of thin cloth or a coffee filter to remove any solids or semi-solids. The cloth or paper can be dried outside, away from the house and sources of heat, spark, flame, or ignition. It can then be disposed of with the trash destined for the landfill. Use the filtered gasoline by mixing with new gasoline at a 1:5 ratio (1 part reconditioned gasoline to 5 parts new gasoline). An octane booster may also be added to further restore volatility. Octane booster can be purchased at a gasoline station or auto supply store.

Everstart Maxx now in Black instead of Yellow?
Thanks - just wondering - all the cc, amp, rm, etc. seemed the same as the yellow but curious to know if they we're up to something.

Everstart Maxx now in Black instead of Yellow?
Went to our local WalMart and found the Maxx battery that many people have commented on here and it seems that it's now in Black and not the Yellow that most people are describing. Is this just the case in our area (upstate NY)? Wondering if they switch suppliers/manufactures? NYfish

One more question on batteries -
Thanks LM, I do see your point and it's a very good one. I'll get a separate deep cycle to power the tm. Is there any benefit in putting a dual purpose in for the starting battery which will also power the electronics mentioned above? Or is a starting battery fine for that load? I guess I'm looking for an excuse to use the battery I just bought .

One more question on batteries -
Great site here by the way, I've been reading past battery threads and links for a few hours now but still have a question. I just bought a 2005 16' starcraft with a 50 merc. It's got a starting battery currently in place to power the starter, lights, bilge and livewell. I'm adding a fishfinder, VHF radio and a 12v 36# Minn Kota. - West Marine has a sale going right now offering a Group 24 Dual Purpose battery for $69 (reg. $109). So I bought it - with the thought that I could return it if I decide to not use it. So here's my question- Do I really have any logical place to use it (the dual purpose) or should I just get a straight deep cycle for the TM and hook all the other stuff up to the starting battery? Could this group 24 Dual Purpose batt. handle everything by itself? Thanks again for any help -
