  1. I managed to get all of the old rubber carpet backing up along with almost all remanants of the glue using plenty of acetone and a hand scraper. I bought some gray carpet from Basspro (at $5.99 6' X 1') and it seems fine. Cutting the wood for the decks was a little tricky but a rotozip and wood plane made the job a lot easier. I got the wife to help lay the carpet and have started to re-assemble. Can't wait to get out there.
  2. Thanks guys; Looks like I just need to grin and bear it, I'll try the sandpaper and heatgun ideas though!
  3. Does anyone have an idea on how to remove old carpet backing and glue from the deck of an aluminum bass boat? I have just started my renovation project and am having a heck of a time scraping this stuff off!! Acetone makes the rubber pliable enough to scrape off, just looking for an easy way.
