I managed to get all of the old rubber carpet backing up along with almost all remanants of the glue using plenty of acetone and a hand scraper. I bought some gray carpet from Basspro (at $5.99 6' X 1') and it seems fine.
Cutting the wood for the decks was a little tricky but a rotozip and wood plane made the job a lot easier. I got the wife to help lay the carpet and have started to re-assemble.
Can't wait to get out there.
Does anyone have an idea on how to remove old carpet backing and glue from the deck of an aluminum bass boat? I have just started my renovation project and am having a heck of a time scraping this stuff off!! Acetone makes the rubber pliable enough to scrape off, just looking for an easy way.
