Shimano Calais Knobs
Thanks guys. I should have just looked at the knobs and tried it. Tried my SLX knobs on it and it works with the Calais knob retainer so I'm sure I can find some new knobs. Deleted Account, this reel was inherited from my grandfather and weighs only 1.2 oz less than my SLX reel and Aird rod combined. However it is so strong and smooth it makes me want to get some other high end aluminum reel like the Bantam. The reel just oozes quality and smoothness out of every turn of the handle.

Shimano Calais Knobs
I'm looking for some replacement handle knobs for my CL200 Calais. the parts booklet only shows a handle assembly and that part is discontinued. Is there anything special about these that you can't replace them without changing the whole handle?

The new Bantam is coming in March
Where will this reel be for sale in March?

What size braid should I go with?
Not exactly the same use, but I use 10lb braid to 20 lb flouro leader with an fg knot. When I have to break off, the flouro breaks. I've caught a 30 inch red drum (in open water, no docks or pilings) with no problem on this set up.
- I love wacky rigging

A Belated Hello
Thanks, guys. I fished with my grandpa when I was growing up, but didn't have or should I say didn't make time after work and kids. He didn't fish the weekends, though. Anyway, he passed away and I just got all of his gear. He liked nice stuff, mostly chronarch reels of various generations and nice rods, but he reeled with the wrong (right) hand. I already ordered a curado k and have an SLX on the way to put on some of his rods. I got a bunch of lures too. I'm sure I'll be posting in the other forums as I go through and organize a plan to start catching fish.

A Belated Hello
Looks I joined the forum back in 2008, but haven't ever posted. I find others have asked the same questions I had and always found what I neede via search. To be fair I haven't fished for bass more than a few hours per year until last year. Im hoping to get back into it some.
