  2. i would say its much closer to 5 than 2... probally around 4 to 4 1/2 thanks tell charlie fred says hi
  3. anyway i'm thinking about using the mans c4 shallow cranks at this spot now ,trying to expand my bassabilities if you will.Does anyone feel particular about one bait over another,I dont want to wearout the jitterbugs ability by introing it too much.Is this good logic or should I pull the reigns back and stick to what i've learned so far?
  4. see when people respond with positive things its nice thanks pain its a new spot weve only fished a handfull of times but in the past couple months four fish over 5 pounds have been cuaght and get this ,released !! from here and one was ten pounds!! believe what you will macmaster but real men dont need to lie we all have fish tales about the one that got away but you can see this fish is well over 2#'s.
  5. thnx guys that is actualy only a small portion of the lake and its al flooded timber
  6. here is a quality 5+ lbs long island new york bass caught on a med. splitback jitterbug it was overcast today and i got to fish from a small jon you can see the amount of cover this fish had to play in and we also have crayfish natrually occuring here(rare on long island i think). hopefully before the summer is over i will pull the suffolk county catch and release record for 2008 from this spot
  7. thanks again everyone who felt inclined to chime,my new personal best is 5+ ,unfortunately said fish escaped my clutches before we could take the pics, but it was about 20 inches and real fat. i caught it on a black jitterbug and it felt great to see her explode on the surface.Quik question when the bass have some red coloring to them under the mouth and near the tail is this from feeding on craws?
  8. thats what i like to see everyone is kinda on the same page on this one, thanks for your ideas guys ill give the rage tails a try along with the jitts and my black spook. now ive never fished well with buzzbaits , seems like fish run away from those kinds of baits here. could it be initial splash that spooks them, and if you spook a fish on your first cast and buzz the bait back how do you get said fishs trust back to get it to take the bait?
  9. hjerk those fished right on op or just under the surface?
  10. me too hope this goesas planned met a guy who had pics of fish he caught at this spot biggest ive ever seen on long island
  11. Wednesdy night going to be doing some stump grinding , at dusk not gonna be totally dark , not gonna be totally light.I plan on using some topwaters , targeting fish in the range of 7-10 #'s . Everyone fond of tops please chime in w/ suggestions on size and color I was thinking black jitterbugs and 7" spooks. :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ ;D
  12. thnx again good luck this summer
  13. thnx ajr , my confidence baits are any soft plastics i do still catch on them but not as frequently as a month ago, probably just digging to deep into what im doing rather than just relaxing.Ive tried jigs in blue black combos w/ a rage chunk trailer i get hits but it seems that it never gets really pounded, ive been using 3/8 jigs on medium spinning gear should i go lighter on everything when the bite slows down? should i go from 5 inch senkos to 3 inch and so on?
  14. thanks i appreciate the info, should i go light on the jig and pig like 1/8 or1/4 ounce, and do you thing a zara spook puppy would work?
  15. Been real hard to get bit here on long island lately.Tonight i was fishing a lake that has an area of submerged tree stumps, there were fish everywhere i threw worms i threw fat ikas i threw craws, but all to no avail. Even a white bronzeye spro frog and i couldnt get anything more than a single bite that amounted to nothing. Please help on this, there are some very over 5 # bass at this spot, should i use a spook ,maybe a jitterbug, banjo minnow? BTW i fish in waders. :-?
