Any type of weedless spinner bait work?

A buddy and I are heading to a lake in northern Wisconsin that has heavy vegetation and heavy brush. So far this year we have been using a lot of plastic worms with a jig head, but that will obviously catch us a lot of sticks and lettuce. I do have a decent amount of top water baits such as a popper and a buzz bait. What type of setup/lure/etc. is good for a scenario such as ours? BTW, we will be using minnows and night crawlers on the side.
