first paint jobs... what ya think?
Thanks for all the input.. .keep them up!!!!! the bluegill was just to see how it worked.. that is not a working bait.. its just a floater and he does not do that very well.. kind like a dead fish... LOL.... but that was actually one of the very first baits... actually maybe more like the 3rd one... I have a few more... that are musky baits... they are in my fishing buddies tackle box right now.. I will see about getting some pics here this weekend.. .as he is getting ready to go on a musky fishing trip... I know I dont get to go this year.. cuz of work.. but I have to help a brother out.. and let him take a few see if they do the trick.. As for the blending of the paint.. yes I know the green does not blend very well.. but I have an couple explanations ... 1. The paints on it are acrylic paints 2. Hand painted Didnt have a airbrush 3. the blue gill was a more of greenish tint on the tissue paper.. and then when put on the foil.. it was still pretty dark.. I didnt know that when you put the epoxy on it .. that it would bleach out the tissue paper...... DUH should have seen that comming but DIDNT stop to think. 4. It is just a look pretty bait anyways.. it really was not intended to be fished.. I guess you can say it was an ADHD bait..... lets hurry up and see what this looks like... . As for the top coats.. I am actually using a two part epoxy that I have from my RC hyrdo boat days.... it is a 30 minute cure, it some strong stuff.. it is used to seal wood boats.. after the first few coats you sand it down... paint it and then put your last coat on.... very heavy stuff.... we have used on the other musky baits and such.. WE will see what the musky do to it.. the jerk bait and rattle doesnt have a finish on them yet.. I was going to ask if anyone had any suggestions on them.. Also on another NOTE..... I wanted to let you all know, what paint I used for those two also.. When I got the air brush from my buddy, who was also into RC... he had a bunch of testors.... and Lexan paint used for painting Lexan cars bodies. SO I shot some on and check to see if it would wipe off or not.. and it didnt seem to come off.. I guess because it plastic.... I do know that this stuff takes a beating..... on the Nitro power cars.. Just a tip for all of the new guys who have been wanting to try it... Give it a shot.... its not like you need to go out and buy the world to make this stuff... the blue gill ... well I used and Jigsaw to get the basic shape I wanted out of a piece of 2x3 pine, then used a dremel..... you dont need much.. .so give it a shot.. and read read read there is a lot of information on this forum!!!!! Well enough rambling.... Thank you all if it was not for you all they would look like they do!!!

How do you make them?
I haven't done it yet.. but I have read over on TU that most take dowel rods.. round the tips then cover in JB weld and dip them into plastic a few times.. then cut the skirts.. there was a whole discussion on what all could be used.... and how many times to dip them... and such if your talking about tube jigs...

Well yes its a duplicate post, heck the more people you can ask, the better the responses you get! Besides there might be be people who just read this forum. I am just trying to see if anyone else has tried and if there was any easy way to do it and share the plans.

Google Sketch Up
Hello ALL, YES another newbie tackle maker here, I will eventually get some lures posted for some pointers!! But as I search and read over threads, I am finding that it seems to be a great Idea to create patterns so that you can duplicate the lure as needed.... Well I have played with a FREE program called google sketched up a little when it first came out, but now I am sitting here wondering if anyone has played with it for lure making?? This seems like it might be a great way to develop and share ideas with others.
