The bottom line is the Brett announced his retirement FOR SURE and stated in no uncertain terms that this was the end.
At that point, Green Bay had to make plans to move forward, and to undercut Rogers at this point would be extremely detrimental to team moral and would kill Rogers confidence at this point.
Imagine Aaron Rogers as a starter with "the legendary" Brett Favre standing on the sidelines every game.... The first time Rogers had a bad game, the crown would be chanting "Favre...Favre...Favre.." This would be unacceptable.
I also greatly respect Favre and this Green Bay should release him. If he wants to play at this point, he should be allowed to play. He has payed his dues.
I understand the Coaches decision but also understand Favre's.
