  1. I was wondering how long you guys pause between movements of a senko. I know it will change based on what the fish want, but a range would be nice. For example, if the fish want a really slow presentation one day, is 10 seconds long enough to wait before moving the bait or recasting? 20 seconds? 30? What is really slow in your minds? I don't want to leave it there for 20 seconds if it isn't realistic (percentage wise) to leave it there for more than 10, etc, etc. Thanks.
  2. Has anyone been swayed one way or the other on using red hooks with plastic worms? I can see the whole blood thing with a treble hook on a crankbait, but I am not convince it will help (or may possibly hurt) success with plastic worms. Any opinions? On a related note, has anyone seen an advantage when using black hooks versus the usual? It seems to me that the shiny hook may deter fish, but it could be the complete opposite for all I know. I figure, if I can see the hook in the worm in the water from 10 - 15 feet away, then the fish must see it too. And everone seems to make such a big deal about not having the eye of the hook showing or not having the knot tag end too long, but I haven't read about the giant piece of shiny metal sticking out of the side of the worm causing the fish to not bite. Any thoughts?
  3. Do you guys have any suggestions for a livewell for an 8' basshunter boat? I am guessing a cooler and aerator, but don't know how big is appropriate or what kind of aerator I should get. What are my options? The cheaper and smaller the better. I will have a trolling motor so I have battery power if I need it. What about that "Catch and Release" product I have read about on here. Do I need that too? Thanks.
  4. Almost all of my bass fishing throughout my life has been in the afternoon or evening. Just the way it has always worked out. I am going to try my first tournament this week and was wondering if bait selection is different in the morning versus the evening? I fish plastic worms 85% of the time with great success, but I don't know if they are as effective in the morning and early afternoon. Do you guys have a general schedule of what baits you throw and when during morning through afternoon fishing? Do the fish need to wake up or warm up before fishing certain baits? Thanks to all.
  5. Great link. Thanks. I will try it next time. I have always stayed away from the gills for fear of hurting the fish. Now I know! Thanks again. Rick
  6. Last night I caught two bass that swallowed the hook (Gamakatsu 3/0 EWG). I tried to remove it but didn't want to harm the fish. After no success (using needle-nosed pliers) I decided to cut the line and leave the hook in. I was wondering if that is the best thing to do. Is there another option? Should I carry wire cutters or something similar? What will happen with the hook? Does the fish swallow it? I have always been told that it rusts away, but that would seem to take a very long time. Thanks for the info. Rick
  7. Since we are on the topic, last night I was fishing the pads and hooked three bass that got hung up. I wasn't able to get them out, even after trying different angles, letting them swim out on their own, etc. I ended up having to break the line and retie. I was fishing from the shore so I didn't have a ton of options. Also, I use mono line and was fishing senko worms. Are the bass burying themselves in the roots of the pads? Is there an option besides swiching to braided line and yanking them out with a fury to prevent them from getting stuck? Thanks for your help.
