Roanoak VA
I would go down to the Roanoke River off the Blue Ridge Parkway at the old Explore Park. There is another great place to go fishing from the bank at a place called Rutrough Point. You go down Rt. 116 to Rutrough Rd, and stay on that road until you get the Roanoke River. Its about 6 miles back there. That is the upper part of Smith Mountain Lake. Great smallmouth, largemouth, and possible a striper.

Smith Mountain Lake Tourney
smith mountains average temp in late march is in the lower 50s. it also depends on the weather also. its been a cold winter down here this year. i haven't been on the water since about the end of december because must of the ramps are froze over. roanoke river arm is a good place to go, but down no more north then beaver dam creek. also check out the blackwater side also. to me the fish seem to start spawning on that side first then the roanoke side. find some creek channels fish them. lipless crankbaits and t-rig lizards work for me.

!!!!New River Help!!!!
Went down to Sportsmans today and caught some fish. Water was low in some spots and good in others. They released alot of water from the dam at noon so it brought up the water level some. Fish hit on mainly 3in wacky rig senko type worms. My fishing buddy did mange to catch a 2lb largemouth, and my biggest was a 1.5lb smallmouth.

Briery Creek Lake...
Sounds like you had a great day Wayne. I wish I could get up there one more time but looks like I won't be able too. We are stand by right for my sister to have her baby, so I figure I better stay close to home. But this spring I'm going to head up there a few times and try to catch a few of them fish.

Briery Creek Lake...
Well if my plans and weather fall through, I'm going to make another trip out to Briery. Where should I start fishing at? Since I only been to the lake once and don't make about it. Should I fish deep water or near the banks? I'm going to do what you said Wayne and take my time and just go slow until I get a feel for the water. Where are the hot spots on the lake?

Briery Creek Lake...
Thanks Wayne. The reason why I'm so worried about the trees is because I just got the boat here couple months ago. Where is the 701 boat ramp at. I done that whole mapquest thing but it got me confused on getting there, so that is why I just went to the dam. Are there less trees up on that end of the lake or are they just easier to see?

Briery Creek Lake...
Hey I have been reading all of yalls post for the last couple of weeks. I'm new to this here website and I'm liking what I'm have been reading. I went up to Briery Creek here last month. Buddys of mine told me about it and I have been reading about it. Once I got up there i seen what everyone was talking about. TREES!!! I put in at the dam and trolled along the shore and to cove across from the ramp. I got alittle neverous about all the trees and decide to go up to Sandy River. What I'm tring to get at is can anyone help me out getting around Briery without missing up my boat, and where are good places to fish. I'm thinking about making a return trip up there soon and if not next spring. OH yea if you know anyone that is looking for a boat I have one for sale. Its a 1968 Lonstat jon boat with a 3hp motor and a trolling motor.
