  1. Nice looking design on that canoe loader. I have already traded for the kayak. I have the attention span of a 3 year old so my interests within fishing are always on the move. Thanks for the tips.
  2. I live in rochester NY. I fish most the time from my boat. But sometimes I want to go out in streams and creeks. I have a canoe but it is d**n near impossible to load alone. So I am trading it for a kayak. The kayak is a sit on top mainstream camo kayak. The guy doesnt know the model and I am a bit concerned that he bought 2 and only used them twice and wants to trade them already. He said its 9' and "w" shaped in the back instead of coming to a point. Does anybody know anything about this kayak.?? Any good for fishing?? I just want to make sure that I'm not buying some weird crappy kayak. Thanks
  3. I have an old 1956 30hp evinrude on my 13ft fiberglass boat. It is the perfect size and it is almost as much fun to work on as to fish with. With a little bit of info off the internet and a 100 dollar or so motor you will be good to go. Very easy to work on with plenty of tune up parts still being made. JMO
  4. What are the thoughts on the different carpets you ca buy at the box stores. I looked at many different options at Lowes an they have a couple that looked good ranging from 50-99 cents a square foot. Should I stick with the rubber backed? Is there great benefits to it compared to the regular indoor/outdoor carpet? Also I want to go with beige but do blood stains get stuck in the floors easily? Thanks for any tips. I bird hunt from the boat as well and can get blood inside from time to time.
  5. This is a fiberglass boat so its a little different than most I have seen. Requires working with fiberglass in upstate ny in winter which is fun. I still have to glass the deck to the boat to support the edges where there is no framing. It is suppose to be almost 60 here today so I am going to take advantage. I am keeping the remote steering and throttle so in future posts hopefully you will see a homemade console. I got some bass pro certificets for xmas. What are peoples thoughts on bow mount trolling motors. I have a 36" transom mount that I was going to rig up to bow mount. I kinda want to do it right and buy a bow mount maybe with a tiller handle to save some cash. Any thoughts on this are def welcome. Thanks
  6. I had a nice fairly expensive sevylor raft. I took it out a couple times and even got pulled around by a catfish. But I soon learned that I really liked being on the water and I wanted to share those good times with a friend. So i got a canoe and sold the raft at a garage sale. Then I learned I liked peeing while fishing and got a cheap 13ft fiberglass boat and trailer for 175 bucks and a free 3hp motor that just needed a little work. What I am saying is if you can wait look on craigslist and get a cheap boat and even an electric trolling motor. You'll be farther ahead in the end. I still use the canoe in creeks where I can get out to pee.
  7. I am wondering about good practicle ways of framing a platform at the front of a v-hull to put a platform on. And also I know it may be strange but I want to put a side console on the boat. I already have the remote steering and throttle hooked up Because up intil yesterday it was bow covererd. I really don't like tiller steering my 30hp and want to keep the remote setup. Any ideas for a homemade console for the pully steering system. Thanks Dan
