  1. and i'm watchi'n ike fish the BM series now using stren fluoro braid..wonder what that lines all about.?
  2. He said it soaked in l&l overnight eyeda.,.tmier,what type of weight were you using? you said it snapped on the cast and was wondering if you were using a tungsten "insert/free" weight? Like hooligan and eyeda said, there are some very good flouro choices out there, and there are some bad..do a search on this site for flouro lines and you will see some great advice.
  3. Nice to hear they are owning up to their known flaws..,says a lot to me when a company admits a fault and offers to correct it,instead of blaming it on "user error"!
  4. Yeah, really! I can buy four CC spots for the price of one SK red eye/XR50 and still catch just as good, maybe even BETTER and will throw them more willingly into snaggy areas.. I own both the xcaliburs and SK RES's and they work great, but don't look down on the time tested and proven cc trap! That bait has been great for me for many, many years.
  5. No problem catchm..you got me thinking so i had to go look myself!
  6. I like the SK rodent a lot! It's a green pumpkin/blue color that worked well for me last fall. Just grabbed a few packs of the havoc craw fatty, looked at them so many trips, and just could not resist anymore, hope they produce!!
  7. Just picked up some traps & big-o's tonight, were marked $1.99,rang up for $1.57 each..can't complain about the quality, always have caught for me in the past.
  8. Just looked at two packages..xcalibur [2010] XCS100 crank and an excalibur [2003] super spook..both have the same mailing address @ Jenny Lind Rd. Fort Smith AR.
  9. xcalibur bait have been great for me! From traps to topwater, all well made, tough baits. one thing i noticed last year was in the "bargain bin" at DSG,there were xcalibur spooks & cranks @ 3/$6.00,and two racks over were the same EXACT baits in a heddon package for $6.99 each? I guess pradco made changes and had to blow out the existing/old xcaliburs?? Spooks, swimmin' /spittin' images and squarebill cranks were all in the same bin and i stocked up!..still have em @ 2/$5.00 but the selection is limited.
  10. Good call..i did that way back when i first tried braid on a baitcaster, took that d**n reel apart to the last screw,re-assembled,no parts missing..was a used TDX i bought and thought i got shafted from the past owner until i was telling the shop owner about it one day and he found the problem in three seconds..
  11. just before marriage councilors were created..
  12. Watch out for the pinchers!
  13. Sorry to side-track,but who makes that bottom right bluegill swimbait Chris?... Matts? looks very nice!
  14. Just what new2BC said..i will "overline" my sage rplx 10# with a 12# int. line for stripers when throwing big flys..it "loads" the rod easier and has the ability to throw a 4/0 snake fly in the surf. Now,if you are hunting trout in a gin clear spring creek, you may want to choose a stealthy approach over a double-haul chuck & duck..
  15. you have to buy the line weight to match your rod, don't just go out and pick up a random line. the rod should be marked similar to a bass rod ratings on the blank. [9' 6 weight[#] ,7'6" 3#,etc..] you can over power you rod by uplining a weight to shoot out some large flys,or buy/make a shooting head for chucking small rodents! [if your rod can handle it]
  16. Its all up to you. For a guy who goes out 5-10 times a season, that set up may work just fine. Someone who fishes hard say 2,3+ days a week may want a setup which can be reliable and take heavy use better, and just be more of a pleasure to fish with smooth, quality gear. When i first started,i was constantly upgrading my "cheaper" gear every season, and it definitely helped me out. Lighter rods & reels, more technique specific gear [jigs/topwater/crankin..etc.] Keeps me on the water longer with much less equipment failure. It can also engulf you and get out of control where you think about it night and day and becomes an obsession which is never ending..i'll stop now!! If you like it,by all means use it,nothing wrong with your gear at all..

  18. Thanks SoFla,didnt know it was out so many years ago..guess i'll stick w/ the hybrid!
  19. Made a quick run to the tackle shop this afternoon and was in the line section when i noticed a few spools sitting in the bargain bins..they had a line by Yo-Zuri called hardcore/cobra [?] and it said for "bass anglers" or the like printed on top of the packaging? I tried looking online but only found a company called duel which looked exactly like the same line/packaging without the YZ name on it? I'm not sure if its a mono,co-po,or another strain of hybrid, which i already love.. Anyone have any experience w/ this line? It was only available in 20# test,so i passed on it,but it was only $3.99 for a filler spool too!!
  20. Not saying i don't like orange undersided cranks,i love em! Bluegill/perch/crawdad imitations should have a slice of hell-fire on em!! Just dont know why or when or how bait companys found the need to burn a bass's belly..?!?!
  21. Yeah MonteSS, the fire-belly still burns deep....perfect example of such a sweet swimbait put down & out with the hot vengeance of tangerine tummy once again..
  22. POPRG replied to craww's topic in Fishing Tackle
must have a crazy shimmy to it w/ the split side action? not the typical "hunting" action of the squarebill craze?
  23. Thanks for the great reply's everyone..just goes to show that we truly enjoy our sport to the extreme and i love the fact that i can post such a ridiculous topic and get some very straight forward answers. Nice to see that some agree too! I shall heed marty's advice and contact several lure manufacturers as to why the devils belt of orange hell is embedded on the soft white under-belly of the hawg hunters tools...all of this said as an xcalibur XCS100 square-lip orange belly is staring me dead straight in the eye........but its o.k., for the crank is a craw pattern...........................................
  24. Very nice fish Paul! shallow water SB bite...they are gettin ready!!!!!
  25. POPRG replied to Big-O's topic in Fishing Reports
Big-O that is a Haaaaawg! nice going! Just look @ the treeline behind big.. looks like 50 truck stop hawg diners!
