Jig Skirts?
Just wanted to get an idea of what you all use for making/securing jig skirts [tab-formed skirts] to jig heads.. i have seen the "pen-type" tool and it looks like it would work o.k..but has anyone used the "bench-mount" tool? is it worth the extra money/ease of use? i guess the only real difference is someone making a couple dozen jigs instead of cranking out a few thousand a year? its something i've wanted to do off season for years, and just acquired about 100-150 heads that need some skirts! thanks for your advice.

Best Braid To Fluoro Connection
same here, fresh & saltwater, uni to uni has never failed me yet..albright looks nicer,a bit smaller, but i trust the double uni after all these years.

Spinnerbaits And Buzzbaits
on spinnerbaits this spring, strike king 3/8oz. chat/white [missing the magic tail] replaced with a twin-tail grub. iv'e been using a 6.4:1 stx and 10/12# hybrid. One of my favorite baits so far.. Buzzin,i like the curado 200E7,30-40# braid, cavitron white/copper blade day, black at night. Agree w/ most about the trailer hook, works good for short strikers, but have not used one yet this year and have done great without it. The SK spinnerbait came w/ a trailer hook and "magic tail" skirt trailer when purchased last season, but that bait has caught so many fish for me,i tweaked it off season..cut back the remaining magic tail, added a grub tail, sharpened the hook and its been catching again this year! excellent baits @ DSG for a very reasonable price!

Your Worm(S)?
I'm trying to narrow it down too packman, but i have: ribbon tail, paddle tail, kut tail, straight tail/stick bait, trick worm,etc..not buying anymore worms until i deplete the huge stock yeah, right! they ALL work at certain locations/time of season, but i'm just too far gone for help!

Its Raining !!!
Dang ROCbass,i saw that! figures the warmest winter on record and it snows like mad in late April !! I froze out there today, but managed 8 bass on spinnerbait/cranks..still cant feel my fingertips!

Rage Craw
good advise deep! iv'e been hooked on the black/blue flake for a while now w/ black jigs.

Rage Craw
o.k. you don't have to say the color, just give me a good hint!

Revo Stx
well if you don't believe him, don't listen to me either!!! i can cast UNDER 1/4 ounce-1 ounce+ jigs,spinner/buzzbaits,poppers,t-rigs,etc with NO problem at all! So..whats your question? you obviously have something wrong with your reel, but if you don't want to believe it,what can we say??

Its Raining !!!
same here in NY,we need it big time..pouring about 1" per hour till morning..i'm still going fishing tomorrow, rain or shine!
-
Revo Stx
i have 2 stx's right here on my desk,a 6.4:1 and a 7.1:1 and at 3/4 spool tension,it will barely go one full spool revolution. take off the tension cap and make sure the black washer is in there first..

Scored On Rage Craw Purchase
Man,and i thought i was big pimpin' @ DSG tonight..picked up a few packs of havoc deuce twin tail grubs that rang up for $1.47 each! The cashier is a fisherman too,and said that cant be right, but just sold them to me. Wanted to go back and grab some more, but they were closing right after me!! Looks like a good swim jig trailer.

Is 91% Alcohol Too High To Be Able To Clean The Gunk Out Of My Reel?
what do you mean by cleaning the inside of the reel? are you taking it apart, stripping it down & re-assembling? don't spray a "degreaser" in there and not service the gears/bearings afterwards.. you said you don't want to mess anything up,but once you open it and start stripping it down, just make sure it goes back together the way you started. it may be overwhelming at first, but if you have the reel schematics/exploded view manual, sit down and take your time, open it up and lay the parts on a paper towel, wipe clean, and re-assemble it with some grease on the gear teeth and oil in the bearings. better off leaving it alone and having a shop service it than just trying to clean out some old grease.there are some great shops on this site who will make it sing like a sparrow for a very fair price.

Koppers Live Target/perch?
Iv'e been catching a ton of small 5-6" perch as by-catch while crankin lately, and i just have to think that the bass are cruising around underneath the schools looking for an easy meal. Been looking for a good perch imitation and the koppers LT looks like an excellent match for the juvi perch.Never fished any of their products and wanted to know if anyone has had some good catches with this crank and if they make a medium diver to about 5'-6' or even a floater that i could surface twitch?

How Many Would You Buy?
Sounds like a nice all around stick ninja, cant hurt to have 1-2 around. i picked up a heavy action 7' quantum spinner from a bargain bin..saw the rod there for weeks, played around with it in the store, but always put it back on the rack at the last second. Went back one day and bought it,use it now for light tackle saltwater and man that rod is awesome! anyone who tries it wants one too. best $24.00 i ever spent. but like you said, how many bargains can we use? its a sickness man...i know of no cure available,so untill then.shop on.......just purchased a lews tourney pro last night..i do not need another reel, why did i buy it??

Any Lure With An Orange Bottom??
Catt, come on up to the medium-lake-puddle and i'll show ya how its done! it really doesn't make a difference to me,and i own more fire-belly cranks than not, just never understood why?? when its winter and i'm dreaming of bass fishing, these thoughts run through my mind.. but the fish have turned on/pre-spawn patterns just starting here!!
-
Any Lure With An Orange Bottom??
right here! I'll take an orange belly crank on a craw or bluegill imitation, but will never know why a bait company would paint a LMB crank or swimbait with such detail to imitate the forage, then stripe the belly orange?? never caught one,or seen one w/ an orange belly?iv'e done much better with a dark back/light bottom crank on any body of water iv'e ever fished....

Sk Kvd 1.5?
on the fastest retrieve we could do...maybe we need to test the rattling VS the silent models??
-
Sk Kvd 1.5?
with 10# yo-zuri hybrid,revo stx 6.4:1 and a powell 703,the 2.5 KVD woul'd not get close to 3'..

Snap Swivels?
Never use a snap/swivel in freshwater bass fishing..chest deep @ 2:00 am ocean surf casting for 30+# striped bass..,yes,but when i'm LMB fishing,i want the least amount of hardware i can get away with. Will it make your catch ratio decrease? probably not, just not for me.never needed it and i can tie a good knot quick enough to never consider it. i know some rigs like the carolina rig use a swivel/bead,but its far enough away from the bait as to not have any effect on the target bait. I'm sure many will disagree, but i just don't ever see the need for it in the conditions/locations i fish.
-
Sk Kvd 1.5?
i fished the KVD 2.5 all day today trickerie, and was very hard pressed to reach even 3' on the fastest retrieve? i was using the sexy sunfish color too,but my bait had no rattles. funny you posted this as i was thinking the exact opposite all day when i thought the 2.5 would dig too deep for this shallow/stump filled lake. maybe the rattling version runs deeper than stated? Had a good day though, the panfish & perch were on top hitting a heavy surface mayfly hatch, and i would run the 2.5 with a quick 3-4 cranks, kill it for a second or two and repeat. The bass were just underneath them waiting for an easy meal!!

Night Baits
I tend to throw larger offerings at dusk & night..big jitterbugs/spooks,wakebaits/buzz-spinnerbaits,10+" worms,twitchin' 5" redfins... man,i can't wait for the pre-dawn hunts..low,dense fog,some crazy bird screeching in the distance..tie on a 3/8 black cavitron....wwwwwhheeewwww < [blade-spinning noise on the cast]..chug-chug-chug-chug...kaaBOOSH!

Worm/jig bite
No doubt, good post Catt..i feel a jig bite is a bit more violent than a worm bite to me. Also some good replys as to a jig being dropped a bit quicker than a worm. That jig "tap--crush-tap.." VS a worm suck it up and mosey away..i tend to line watch more closely wormin' than jiggin. Was out today..20+ MPH winds, choppy white-caps throwing a 3/8 brauer jig w/ a rage chunk trailer draggin reeeal slooow and could still feel that jig take over the down timber/stumps....except for the one who decided to swim directly at me after the take! though i lost her on the hook set,but she held the jig and i hooked her at the lift-up for a new cast
