Captain Obvious

The question is, is it worth going to college with today's economy. I mean lets face it the job world out there really stinks, very few people are getting jobs out of college. So for a guy like me who is just starting college, I have to look and say "If I take out a student loan will I be able to pay it back" Of course no college student knows where he will get a job, but add that to the economy it gets even worse

I hope none thought that I was down talking a college degree, I agree that you are more likely to succeed in life if you have a college degree. And I hope everyone knows that I don't mean that you need a college degree to succeed in life. For the record I believe that the man who does the best he can at his job every single day, whether it be trade or a desk job, will have the best chance at succeeding in life.

Ah yes Cali lets see...... Did you notice that everything you buy is known to cause cancer in the state of Cali :-? The governor stinks ( not like Texas is great, but he's much better than Arnold) Did I mention that the governor hates fishermen When you read things like "highest cost of living outside of Cali" makes you wonder :o They have to have Laws for everything, and I mean everything. Giant bass ( And enough fishing pressure to kill a cow) It's the land of the fruits and nuts And to top it all off its just a matter of years until the whole state falls into the Pacific Chris I'm glad that you love Cali but I could never see the point in living there, D

Did you guys know that statistics are showing that it no longer pays to go to college!!!! I have a friend who works for an investment company (Northwestern Mutual) Well from what he's been telling me that they ran some numbers and they found that guys that started when they where 18 in a trade like pluming. That on average they make such and such a year ( notice I don't know all the numbers so remember that these are all averages) that if they manage there money correctly that by the time there ready to retire that they will (again on average) have more money than a Doctor!! What they found is that a 4 or more year degree cost people so much money that in the long run it hurts them more than it helps? OK remember that this is all run off of averages but they added in cost of living, amount it takes to set up your own practice or pluming company, and other factors like cars, kids, and kids schooling. Yet in the end the numbers are the same. I'm still going to college but it's something to think about.
